PL Weekend Fixtures 17/10/20 - 19/10/20

Manhandled the lineswoman ffs.. you guys are desperate.

We'll see of course.

I've said a few times that I'm not expecting us to become defensive masters but do expect an improvement, once the team can actually play together.

Mendy, Silva and Chilwell have played together once in the prem by the way (against Palace) and got a clean sheet.

Fair point, Palace was your most complete performance so far.

She shrugged him off, I'm sorry but that is unacceptable.

He touched her shoulder. People are making it out as if he groped her.

Haven't you ever been patted on the shoulder by someone? It is something people do.

Yeah I agree that term is hyperbolic but he shouldn’t be touching her weirdly either.

He actually shouldn't for sure but it wasn't a bit aggressive. It looked like he swore at her first, than put his arm around her (maybe to apologize) and she rightly swatted him away.

Yet again excellent for 30 minutes, haven't put the game to bed and hanging on again. Wouldn't be surprised to see us drop points again.

Holy shit VVD for 8 months?

Is he out for that long?

Just watched the replay there. Madness the goalie couldn't be punished for the challenge because VVD was offside

Yeah I agree it wasn’t an aggressive thing it was just a bit odd? Refs shouldn’t be swatting away players though.

His hand was around the back of her neck.

Richard Keys said cruciate injury so up to 8 months but its Richard Keys so who knows

His hand was around the back of her neck.

His had was on her opposite shoulder. Not near her neck. You're acting like he grabbed her neck or gave her a stone cold stunner or something. He simply put his arm around her shoulder and not even in an aggressive manner.

Its the Sun but I guess the rule is real,

Professional footballers will now get booked or sent off for touching or confronting a referee
New rules give officials power to crack down on aggressive behaviour towards them

Any physical contact with a referee or a linesman will mean either a yellow or a red depending on its severity, as will abusing them verbally or reacting aggressively to decisions.

Yes, while looking away at something else; you can tell his mind is elsewhere and it is just a dismissive pat. It really isn't a big deal.
She shrugged him off, it clearly was a big deal to her.

There was absolutely nothing sexual about what he did (if that’s what you are insinuating) but it is still a red card in my opinion

You shouldn’t be allowed to handle a referee like that (gender is irrelevant)

Honestly sad with that, as I would be for any player when he gets a long-term injury. Club rivalries aside with these things.

Having said that though, in terms of on-the-pitch implications, Liverpool are in trouble. They always look vulnerable without him, as they did today.

That would be a ridiculous red card. Remember when Di Maria was sent off? It was ridiculous then, as well.

What Di Canio did to a ref was aggressive behaviour. This was just a pat.

Probably the idea of having a woman as a referee was to prevent that but it ended up happening anyway haha.

This doesn't look the least bit sexual to me. What it does look is very aggressive. Surely this sort of thing isn't allowed, regardless of gender?

That’s the whole incident? And people are criticising her? He would never have done this to a male linesperson. The rules are clear. Things are different with a man and a woman anyway. Yes, red card if those are the rules, serious boundary crossed anyway.

It is a massive shame for them but there is no denying that they’ve had massive luck with injuries over the past couple of years. They’ve been able to field their first team (pretty much) for the majority of the season. This will be their real test.
