PL Weekend Fixtures 17/10/20 - 19/10/20

But Trent has Salah on his side. Doesnt VVD play partner to Robertson? Also Hendersons side?
Trent has henderson and or fabinho to babysit him. Its clearly not just the system why hes so exposed
Also, I think it's time we stop calling TAA a fullback. Fullbacks defend. This kid can't defend for his life. It's pretty evident at this point. He is a liability in their defense.
Yeah its no one is saying hes a bad footballer hes quality going forward, but cant defend at all.

‘Clear and obvious’ has nothing to do with offside. It’s offside or it’s onside.
UEFA have actually instructed otherwise, but here in England they still go by the arbitrary millimeter.

I mean, that offside was a pretty poor call, but Pool would likely have lost that game had Robertson been rightly sent off for a kick out at Allan.

Richarlson was held before hitting the post. Most likely scores without being held.

The offside overrides that. Which is why they will say Pickford cannot be punished.
Far as i know it shouldn't matter. A dangerous, reckless challenge like that is a red regardless of the offside i think. If it isn't than that is a massive hole in the laws of the game

Liverpool now dropped as many points this season as they did for the first 8 months of last season.

The problem I have with this is - with the technology we have - it's not 100% on or off, as their is a margin for error.

VAR should take this into account, but doesn't.

Ah come on! Pickford managed to injure one of Liverpools best players 10 minutes into the game in what was a clear cut red card challenge. It was a very weird game with some very, very odd decisions.

This game shoes how shit the caf scouts are.

Thiago and James were the best players on the pitch and many scoffed at these signing either for us or their respective new teams.

Any part you can score with so its gaining an advantage
Is that the written law? Hmm, yeah then it’s a quite staggering call.

Still it’s Liverpool who suffered so I’m all good and it’s hilariously funny

But that was offside, they cant then go back and look at the pen shout when the phase doesnt count.

Daniel James looked excellent for us three games into last season mate. Lets see how James is doing mid way through the season, Thiago was a class signing, don't think many argued otherwise on here?

Most people could see Thiago was world class.

It shouldn't. It appears they didn't even check the challenge as they were too busy looking at the offside. Let's see if they look at it later.

Not sure about James, but I dont remember seeing anyone against singing Thiago and some of us were desperate for it. The only point against it was after VdB, we are now stacked in midfield.

so a very strange post

Thats not how it works. There was much confusion during the game on why Pickford wasn't sent off. The upshot was that VAR confirmed they didn't check the Pickford incident, they focussed on the offside and forgot to check Pickford. It was an oversight.

There's a rule that means players can still get punished while waiting for a free kick to be taken, this is how they punish challenges like Pickfords.

This is football forum - online version of sports pub, not united board room :) people will have spectrum of opinion about everything. Have fun with it.

Why would they check anything after the offside ? Once hes offside the rest of play is null

Not really, many wanted Thiago, but knew he was bound for Liverpool.

Offside is offside I don't know why we need to keep having this discussion there is no subjective opinion about it. Its an objective decision.

Because otherwise pundits would actually have to discuss the game and they can't articulate thoughts on football besides referee decisions

People saying Richarlison is shit and the worst transfer ever, then being happy he’s suspended against us. Confused.

Nope. Dangerous play is punished regardless of wether the ball is in play or not
