We were there not to lose. Liverpool were there to win. Draw seems to be fair because we were better team in first while Liverpool dominated second. Whit all the pressure on us from every corner. With injuries. With Liverpool being very good team. I think it is a small step forward.

Ole did well from the start and by playing with wingbacks he totally took out Robertson / Trent. That meant we could control the game in first. Then I thought we were just to defensive and that is something that will punish you. Credit to Klopp for changing game when he took out Origi and put on more mobile Ox.

VAR is still catastrofic, if it is used like this.

I think if you swapped Fred for Fabinho our game plan would of secured the 3pts. Fred had chances to hit the target and missed both times, also lots possession in important phases.

The same set of players were pressing as a team and playing with intent, albeit not always successfully, in the first half. But in the second, Rashford and James began their usual chasing after lost causes and the team just sat back and did not even try to exploit the spaces that their full-backs were offering. Down to Ole's usual negative tactics.

Yes thank you - finally some sense. We didn't change tactics to sitting back we were still trying to get forward - until the sixtieth minute it was clear we were chasing a second goal and throughout the entire period we always looked dangerous whenever we got close to their box. Liverpool just upped their game is all - and to be honest we looked both solid and optimistic in our play considering the pressure we endured. The result was fair - but it could just as easily have been a win. It was a good game from both sides.

It really isn't a foul. Touching a player doesn't constitute a foul. The contact isn't nearly significant enough to effect him, other than for him to decide to dive because he had already lost possession of the ball.

The only argument I think you could make is that his touch was poor and he was already getting robbed of the ball by McTominay but I would have been really angry if that had been United on the receiving end of that. I thought the ref gave us quite a lot today which is a change from usual.

Gutted we couldn't hold on for the win after leading for so long, unfortunately when you create so little in the game then any defensive mistakes are going to be heavily punished.

I don't think we'll really know if anything has really changed until after the next two games, have we turned a corner? Or did we basically do what small teams do and lift their game when the top sides come to town, especially for a derby?

Our best fit eleven started out of what is a very thin squad. We didn't really have much on the bench to bring on to freshen it up.

Liverpool brought on 150 plus million worth of midfielders, all internationals and this swung the momentum for them.

We had an unfit Martial and a 19 year old CM who hasn't started a premier league match for us.

If you look at it that way, without resorting to "well Ole chose to not buy midfielders", it's not that surprising we fade in matches.

We played a style of football that suited our players. A style of football that we will not be able to play against "weaker" teams. Mourinho-esque performance and tactical approach to the game. And the most likely way for us to have gotten away with anything.

Klopp's verdict on VAR decisions
Surprise, surprise, Jurgen Klopp thinks Liverpool were wronged by both major VAR calls today.

He told BBC Sport:

“The first goal I think everyone can agree it was a foul but with VAR it is not a clear foul. That is the situation. We didn’t lose but it was an obvious foul.
