Champions League Semi Finals (30th April - 8th May)

Liverpool playing 3 defensive midfielders basically when they need to score 3 goals. Very odd team selection, can't see any reason to not play Gini. Midfield creativity a lot more important today with Salah and Firmino out.

If this was the pre-VAR era, Liverpool would start diving in the penalty area since the very first minute.

I think that's the stragety anyway. "You dive, and feck VAR."

Fabinho is their defensive midfielder the rest are just midfielders.

Shaquiri scored twice against United this season and Origi as scored some important goals. I hope Barcelona defend a bit better on set pieces than Newcastle did last Saturday and aren't taking this tie for granted like some of their supporters.

How many goals Barcelona have scored in away knock champions league games the last 3 years.

Man United 1 (VAR played its part)
Lyon 0
Chelsea 1
Roma 0
PSG 0
Juve 0

Liverpool have conceded just 2 goals in 5 champions league home games this season both against PSG in a 3-2 win.

This again? Same as past wednesday? You blokes say it then deny it? 50/50. I've read that multiple times for the past few weeks.
It was more in the balance last week because a ball was still to be kicked.

Barcelona won 3-0 and are now huge, huge favorites to progress.

I don't understand what's unreasonable about that?

Even United fans were saying we had a decent chance before the first leg.

Henderson and Milner are both defensive minded midfielders, it's a very odd midfield for a side chasing 3 goals. This place would have a complete meltdown if United put out a midfield of that ilk when chasing a tie.

Barcelona were there to be got at, hell, even United gave them a wobble in the first minute or whatever it was but once Messi turns it on you've got no chance. All depends on how he's feeling that decides the game.

Norwegian broadcaster has spent the last 30 minutes bigging this up and showing every Liverpool comeback that ever has happened. cnuts

Tbh, United fans expected it more than actual Liverpool fans. PL syndrome, I guess.

Wijnaldum coming in wouldn't dramatically change anything and Keita's injured.

I wouldn't play Sturridge in a game like this either.

Any midfield we put out that does not include Pogba is just as defensive. And they really do not have a Pogba type midfielder.

Tell me about it. He wasn't really a major problem until he switched on 70 minutes in. He decided the tie in 10 minutes.

I've seen the match three times, and other than the beginning of the second half, "Liverpool owned Barcelona" is a blatant lie. First goal was before min.30 anyway (Alba-Suárez).

Mistake to play Coutinho in this one I think - he’ll inevitably be heavily booed by the locals and I don’t think he has the character to deal with it.

I agree, Liverpool came close a few times but I always felt Barcelona would score and dealt with the like of Salah easily, but Liverpool could and should have got one goal to give themselves a chance in the home leg.

It would be hilarious if Barça scores first after all the big talk about Liverpool scoring 2 in the first 25 minutes and running-pressing like demons, the terror of Anfield and blah blah blah...
Christ, I really hope you don’t end up looking silly later.

Milner is there to kick any opponent into the ground tonight.

Major? Like CL?
Yeah, I've just got a feeling Mourinho will ride again and he'll make sure everyone kisses his arse before he rides off into the sunset. He has nothing to prove really but deep down he'll be seething with the way everything has gone for him in the last few years.

I'm not saying it will happen anytime soon but he's still relatively young in management years.

Finally, a game where we can forget how shit we are ourselves and enjoy Liverpool's misery

That would be poetic.

More like once Ashley young realised hey I am a shit player we lost the tie and then de gea copied young and gifted them another. But yes we were pretty good before we conceded. With a more clinical striker we might have scored the first goal.
