I can see Sanchez getting more games at United than City. Seems Pep is trying to get more insurance, another ace card to use and they have a set limit on the price an extra player. At this stage of the league getting a medal might not feel too deserved and the guy just wants to leave Arsenal and United is an attractive option plus he can transform our attack and play for one of the most recognized clubs in the world. Both are good options but I feel he can get more games for us at United, this and next season.

I hope he comes, it's a real fan type signing and will light up OT.

Some of them could be rapists, serial killers, whatnot."
Tell her none of that is in doubt, the trouble you're having is trying to work out who the really bad ones are.

Can't deny the concern that Utd might be committing to a bad contract over a number of years for the the type of player who might fall off a cliff inside 18 months. Hopefully just my pessimistic side, and to be fair we are not paying £100 million+ for the privilege.

He used to play RW quite a lot, not sure his pace is quite what it was, so coming off the LW is probably his best role, Lukaku should enjoy those little curling chips he floats up to the back post.
I share your concerns but this is a here and now investment. I've said it before that we won't be getting a prime Sanchez.

Money Utd?

Haven't we spent the guts of the last 10 years listening to how broke we are

I'm worried that Sanchez will only have a couple of productive years left. He is 29 and started his professional career as a 17 year old. In addition, he always puts in a good shift which means he is a player with a lot of miles. This is a huge worry for me.
Well, if you could buy one special player a year that makes you win the league, FA or CL, that's good business. Of course we wouldn't most likely win the league but he could help big time with CL(?) this year maybe. If not help us win things in the next few years.

*Titles - plural. Presumptuous much.
This is driving me mad. They haven't even won their first trophy with Pep and there's already a talk about domination in years to come.

What a load of bull.

If money is his motivation then why did he not accept the £300k a week offered by the gooners 18 months ago?
Not sure that's totally correct but lets say it is, I don't think I made this clear. Alexis clearly did not want to be at Arsenal anymore, staying was not an option for him so from the options he wanted the best financial offer ahead of anything else. Again, this is what most players do so it's not a surprise and not something to beat Manchester United with it's just the modern day game.

I was gutted when he went to Barca all those years ago, this is such a nostalgic saga I love it.

This is a worry for me too. We'll no doubt give him a 4 year contract and at 400k per week he'll be our new Rooney for the last 1-2 years...

We got one great year off van persie at 25m. We won the title and he was injury prone and on the decline.

Sanchez we should get 2.5 years minimum off him at 35m. He takes care of his body, less prone to injury deadly on the ball and even if he loses a yard of pace, still has amazing technical ability. I don't expect him to decline that quick. The transfer is a coup and if we win the prem next year with him,35m is worth it. A player like him in this day and age would cost 90m!

My primary concern with Sanchez is that in the span of just a week he's gone from one of the best players in the league who would take any team to the next level to now just an overworked, 30yr old mercenary who wouldn't even be guaranteed starts for City.

At that rate of attrition, he's going to be simply a pile of dust by the end of the season.

Muppets be giddy, I won't be as giddy... yet. Too many times in the past... :nervous:

Having said that, I am happy that Mourinho has come and changed the club's transfer policies. Challenging for star players with rivals, and for the most part, won the battles.

Sanchez, still remains to be seen.

Poor Sanchez, forced to chose the club with a history, that plays in a sold out stadium weekly and is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Must be shit having to play under one of the best managers in the world with some world class players, while getting paid well.

Football is not just fair :(

Would be fecking hilarious in hindsight if we won the league as improbable, but not impossible, as it looks now.

Can't stop refreshing. Well aware the news will break tomorrow, however the withdrawal symptoms from not refreshing this thread are too intense.

You leave out the part where it's harder to accept 35m (plus hefty agent fee and signing bonus) when he could be signed without a transfer fee in just 5 months.

Hard to get sleep. This thread goes too fast, page after page always trying to catch up. A lot of fun! I really hope we get Sanchez, and for that to be the straw that fixed the camels marriage... would be amazing

I hope both Mourinho and Sanchez put an end to the all this money talk when the deal is done. It's getting infuriating now.

Where there'd be much more competition, with teams offering extra massive wages and signing-on fees because they don't have to worry about the transfer fee.

Won the battle for Lukaku against Chelsea. Took Matic from Chelsea. Signed Pogba despite interest from other top clubs. Signing Sanchez from Arsenal ahead of City.

This is GOOD. This is what will bring us back to the top. I have denied this Sanchez deal all the way but it’s looking very likely now...

If it doesn't happen now it'll be a bigger surprise than it happening seemed two weeks ago. It looks very much done.

Sanchez choosing United comes down to him wanting to get out of Arsenal right now... not the summer, not one year from today but right now itself. The environment has become toxic for him as his teammates don't want him at Arsenal. Pep possibly told Sanchez and his agent to stick it out for 6 more months and we'll give into all your demands. City would have given the 30m or so that was supposed to go to Arsenal to player and agent for coming to City for free. That's where United comes in. They are willing to play Arsenal and his agent fees to get the player right now. Matter of fact is that Pep does not really need him right now. The title is practically in the bag even though they lost today. Sanchez would only be brought in to better their chances of winning the Champions League. So for people to say that Sanchez is coming to United for the money sounds preposterous since Sanchez agreed personal terms with City over the summer. It is Arsenal who want more and if United are willing to pay Sanchez a little bit more to secure the deal, why not? Sanchez can play as a winger a No. 10 and also fill in for Lukaku when needed which is why this deal is the best possible one that United could get at the moment. With Griezmann, there was always this doubt whether he'll play well as a RW and the same goes for Dybala and not to mention, they would cost more than 90m. 35m for a PL proven world class player is the best piece of business we could have done.

All we need right now is a CM that would help Pogba dominate and release him. Matic has been good but we need someone more dynamic in that sense.... Jorginho/ Weigl/ Fabinho would all be great options. A proper RW.... If we are penny pinching, a quality winger would be Mahrez who would come for a price of 50m which is relatively inexpensive in this market.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that we are still in the champions league and we can add him to the squad. Yes it's not going to be "easy" as winning the Europa League, but we have more of a chance with Alexis.

A few more good buys in the summer and we'll be looking very strong indeed. I also have faith that our scouting is going to improve with that appointment we made last year. Feeling good.
