Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

The notion that Alexis would chose United purely for money over the prestige of playing for City is one of the most baffling things I've ever seen in football.

Some players prefer big clubs and a challenge. He went from Barca to Arsenal surely you don't want to go to a team so much smaller than Arsenal?

The whole "he's chosen money first" angle makes no sense for the simple fact that if money was all he was bothered about he'd stay where he is for another 4 and a bit months and get free agent signing money.
And City aren't even trying to have a bid accepted yet! They're essentially blaming someone for not extorting his club into selling him way below their asking price. Pep though, innit.

Leaving aside the shallow thinking and bias, the 'Pep v Money' view is guaranteed to drive traffic. No coincidence.

The best possible news (assuming this is done) would be if Sanchez doesn't get the no.7 shirt. Would mean a big summer ahead.

I also like the fact that Sanchez will have the whole summer off and is going to have some much needed break and rest to recharge fully. Amazing player.

Also transfers like this have an effect that you can't quantify in numbers. It makes other players think "I wouldn't mind playing with them". It's the way to do it.

Yeah that's true. Hadn't thought of that. We should know by which number he gets whether or not we're going for Griezmann in the summer or not.
That sounds like the way LVG would pronounce announces
 Yes

It's becoming a trend now in the media that he choosing money over...what should I call it? Over glory? A major trophy? Or whatever. It's like if he chooses City then he will play for free or something! Fecking morons.

We need a #7 in our quest to CL glory this season. Give it to him for now and then hand it to the shinier toy in the summer.

Did you listen to the whole interview? I guess not.

It’s all about context. He also said if a certain player becomes available you have to try all year round. He’s clearly talking about Sanchez.
erm Mou had basically admitted he wants him and would like to sign him in January
He actually said that he doesn't like to sign players in January just for the sake of it but if a certain player (like Sanchez) is available then you have to try whether it's in January, March or July.

Welp, looks like things have changed drastically since I posted what I did a few days ago. If it’s true City are out and we land Sanchez, hats off to you folks as I thought there was absolutely no chance this would even be possible. And @BarstoolProphet specifically, sorry for coming off as a bit of a dickhead...Gladly willing to eat back my words, especially if it means we get Sanchez :wenger:

We’ll still have the #10 to give out in the summer when Zlatan moves on

Can't deny the concern that Utd might be committing to a bad contract over a number of years for the the type of player who might fall off a cliff inside 18 months. Hopefully just my pessimistic side, and to be fair we are not paying £100 million+ for the privilege.

He used to play RW quite a lot, not sure his pace is quite what it was, so coming off the LW is probably his best role, Lukaku should enjoy those little curling chips he floats up to the back post.

Coutinho.

In terms of fees, ye maybe, but I get the feeling Sanchez has been much more box office, not to add it's a superior player for less money. City seemingly being nailed on, for United to come in last second and snatch it.

How's our £500m bid for Neymar going?

He is concerned by the prospect of having to play in Fellaini's shadow at Manchester United so he demanded that United must sell Fellaini as part of the deal.

Being a faceless drone in the corporate 'project' takeover of world football must be an enticing prospect compared to joining the club of the Babes, Best, Busby, Ferguson, Cantona, Robson, Giggs etc etc.

And they say that Sanchez hates Arsenal so much that staying is not a option. This way he is even more fired up to prove them wrong. It reminds me of Van Purse-strings. It's RvP all over again. Mourinho's second year magic can still be true.

We're plastic apparently, signed the press.

He's hardly wrong, is he? Sanchez could get himself a Premier League medal if he chose City so we must be offering stupid money for him to turn it down.

Well, he wasn't going to play for free if he'd gone to city. Plus City offered Arsenal 60M to buy him not so long ago. Which ever the case, Sanchez is pocketing a lot of money
