Never really understood why the fee is lowered because a player is almost out of contract. If United sign Sanchez, a new contract will be part of the deal. I know he would be available for free in the summer, but even then, players expect the fee to be paid as a signing bonus.

Popped over there a moment ago and checked out their "Gazumped by United" thread, which is just a collection of shit transfer stories from the Express and The S*n linking us to players they've signed. I'm not sure if they're a bit desperate or just thick, but they are lauding it as some kind of unquestionable proof that we will make offers for players but they still choose them over us.
