Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

The more I think about, the more I realise how much of an Arsenal player Mhikitaryan is...

Why would Mkhi sway Arsenal even a little bit? If anything it would probably just anger them to be offered him.

Wenger and Mkhi seem a very, very good match to me.

Less high pressure environment - check
Manager who favours performance over results - check
Team who play tech footy - check
Less bothered about physicality - check
Manager who likes nurturing emotional, yet gifted players - check

I honestly think Mkhi would excel there (relative to their demands/expectations), and I also think Alexis would excel here, but I think it's a done deal for him and citeh - but feck it, even if us going in for him makes them have to max out their wages a bit more I guess it's worth it.

I would like to see the percentage between games he starts left/centrally/right, I am pretty sure the right percentage will be pretty bloody low.
According to Transfermarkt, he's played 119 games on the right wing and 104 on the left in his career. He only started playing on the left more with Arsenal (where he's barely played on the right).

Tbf, him joining Pep was always not a deciding factor for me, as he didn't have a great season under him, especially in CL. Them being nailed on to win more and trying to get him for ages could be.

But, don't think it's that impossible all things considered.

Let's see if Liverpool try to leapfrog both Manchester's. That Coutinho money is there...

They would still need to satisfy his wage demands. Plus, as it stands, United and City are more attractive due to the former having won trophies in the recent past and the latter being Champions elect.

The fact that we didn't bid for him at all in summer then decided to bid now in Jan makes me think maybe something changed regarding Sanchez. I don't believe in trying to make City snub United at the end but maybe we were informed by his agent there's a chance to sign him and he's still having all his options open ? Remember Lukaku after all.

I'm glad we've put our name in to the hat at least, worth trying even if we're not that confident he will choose us over City.

I still think he will go to City though, but we'll see!

I'd rather see Alexis leave on a free in the summer. The ArsenalFamTV meltdown will be epic

Yeah, I think it'll be slightly beyond Liverpool if we're both in for them.

And while Arsenal's ambitions for most seasons should be beyond simply getting into the top four, right now they're in a desperate struggle for that and the challenger they're most likely to overtake is Liverpool - handing over their best player to him would probably come across as being even worse than losing the likes of RVP and Nasri to PL rivals.

He can definitely play on the right wing.

This isn't happening.

I'm going to shop for some new jeans and watch Home and Away. Expect Sanchez to have signed for City when I'm done.

Yup, even when he joined us, the initial rumors were with Arsenal. Soft spine like a jelly, inconsistent performances, cracks under pressure but good on some days...that's bang Arsenal if there was one.

Don't do this to yourselves guys... He ain't coming here.

"Not in my lifetime"

That's very surprising, where did u get that info on Transfermarkt?

Arse fans not happy with our (fictional?) interest

But they'd prefer him to go and strengthen City? :wenger:

Because we have no real rivalry with City and never have had any like we do (or in the past) with Spurs or United. As an Arsenal fan I'd rather he went to City than United or Spurs. As an example, RVP to United dug into me more than Adebayor/Nasri to City did. Not even a comparison.

I mean I'd rather he not go anywhere to be fair but you know what I mean. But I think this is just a tactic from his agent to hurry City up. We don't really need Mkhi, we already have too many pretty midfielders, we need someone like Kante.

Weird one this, as I would have thought we would distanced ourselves from this if it wasn't true, or, if it is, I would have expected more people to have followed up on it.

Still nothing on the BBC which suggests this story has only been singled sourced. Until it goes up on their site as a main story, then I will take it with a pinch of salt.

I must say I always thought that a rivalry would develop between Arsenal & City, because even though we bought your best player at the time... they got half a team off you.

I would agree, except you are losing Ozil as well and Mkhi should replace him better than any of your other current options.

In saying that, I don't think this is happening for a minute. Him going to City surely has gone too far for it to change now (not on Arsenal's side obviously, but in Sanchez's mind).

I think if we start challenging again maybe, but let's be honest, we are destined to be garbage for the next decade. :nervous: They bought Ade and Nasri off us, that's hardly half our team. We didn't need Clichy or Sagna either when they got them years later. And when we did sell them our players we still had other established players in the team to cover for those losses.

That's fair enough, to be honest I have not seen Mkhi much. I know he was cracking in Football Manager. :D

What if we offer more than City, Sanchez wants to go to City, but Arsenal wants to sell to highest bidder?
Then Sanchez would have to wait till the summer and go for free, and not get a PL medal (if City wins).
So he might aswell join us :)
*clutching at straws*

You could play Miki in the Kante role. He'd be utter fecking shite but I'm sure Wenger would try. Ye need a Coquelin replacement after all

And why is that? Gary Neville and Nicky Butt would've had a terrible attitude if they were playing under Wenger in that Arsenal team.

Neither would have sulked like he has this last 18 months. His attitude is a legitimate concern, surely?

Oh feck, I just read he's off to Valencia!

He's amazingly brilliant and has immense mental strength™ - please buy him.

PS I'll lend you the money.

He looked quality that season under Pep. He had a lot of injury issues and maybe that's what you are referring to. He was particularly excellent in one game v Real I recall at that time and I also recall seeing him in cl that season, can't remember the team, but he was man of the match in that game. Of course money and the lure of trophies are a big motivating factor, but I wouldn't underestimate the Pep factor in this
