    CSKA Moscow:

A club that is doing a disappointing season, but the motivation factor might be on their side.
Against Benfica they were organized, but lacked mental discipline to remain in formation. Benfica was sloppy and it costed them the game.

In their last game they used 3 at the back, Ignashevich and the Berezutski brothers. If we apply width and pace over their defence, they will suffer, since their center backs are getting older and slower.
We should avoid use direct passing, their center backs might be a bit slower but they have enough physical power to win the duels.

Mário Fernandes is injured, which is another big miss for them, since this guy is actually their only real threat through the wings.
Their midfield is composed, but lacks pace a bit. Wernbloom is a powerful midfielder, though, and his determination might be difficult to step above. I think this are is their strongest point and we shouldn't play through the middle.

If we keept overloading the flanks, their team will break formation, and the center midfs will be forced to open gaps.

Vitinho seems to be their most objective forward, so if we shut him down, we will starve them.

The ideal plan would be playing a 4x2x3x1 with offensive full backs to create flanking overload, that will drag their central players out of position if they want to cover the gaps.

    Romero
    Darmian Lindelof Smalling Young
    Carrick Herrera
    Lingard Mkhitaryan Martial
    Rashford

Subs: De Gea, Shaw, Jones, Blind, Matic, Mata, Lukaku

Thank goodness for the international break, just two games to negotiate

The Berezutski brothers still play together? They've been around forever.

Mourinho said he won't be rotating keepers in the CL.

How is the playing condition in Moscow at this time? Anyone Russian resident can help?

Feel great being back looking forward to next game just right after a win unlike the last few years.
Not too bad. A bit rainy this time of the year. 15 degrees or so.Russian nickname for CSKA are հorses. Kill the horses.

So not the "North of the Wall" weather as it was last time? Great.

If the weather is good, and the pitch is not a freezing ice rink like last time, I think we can win this and all but seal our qualification. If not, a point will be enough to keep us top of the group.

No Carrick or Fellaini complicates things a little, I was sure we'd play three in midfield, now it could be more like three at the back? I'd still hope not and just play one of Mata/Mkhitaryan at no.10, but a three is seeming rather likely:

    De Gea
    Lindelof Bailly Smalling
    Young Herrera Matic Darmian
    Lingard Lukaku Martial

Ah feck, I thought CL games in Russia tend to kick off earlier? I was hoping it started early just so it would finish before my night shift starts. Bugger.

I put Herrera instead of Fellaini in the lineup prediction and kept it at 4-2-3-1.

You would have preferred an away game?
Yeah. CP is very beatable now and with TFM not playing they are even more vulnerable than ever. It's better to get them out of the way now than having this away game at the second half of the season when they're cornered.

Couldn't believe MOTD didn't even put the tackle in the highlights.

If it had been the other way round, and Fellaini did that to Long, they'd probably have devoted a 5 minute analysis portion to it.
And people had the nerve to question the big guy's honesty in his reaction to it. Marouane Fellaini might just be the most honest player in the EPL. I've never seen him embellish or feign anything in his time at Old Trafford. The fact he even finished the game is a testament to his toughness.

Bloody hell, can't believe they have the Bereszutski twins and Ignashevich at the back.....those three must be 400yrs old combined nowadays. That makes me feel a lot better - we need to utilise Martial and/or Rashford and constantly feed them. Those big lumps will relish it if we continuously hit Lukaku up the middle, they can out-number and out-muscle him if it's 2-to-1 which it will be.

Fellaini will be a miss, looks like it'll have to be a deep-lying duo of Matic and Herrera with 3 nimble attackers ahead of them and Lukaku up top.

I can see Blind or Darmian coming in at left back, with Ashley moving to the right in front of Valencia. Because we are away, I imagine Marcus will start on the left, with Anthony starting against Palace.

Just hope Mourinho doesn't try Lindelöf in midfield in a game like this.

To be fair we could just as easily utilize Lukaku's pace as well, he's every bit as quick as the other 2 in my opinion. Martial is nailed on to start this one, so I think it'll be..

    Lingard--------------------Mkhi----------------------Martial
    ------------------------------Lukaku------------------------------

I know man, I know Lukaku can shift. I just foresee them sticking the twins up his arse and hoping we can't find another way through - given their age and slowness, we could absolutely murder them with speed. If that happened, we could quite easily end up winning 0-4 here but I know how we work away from home especially ina game like this, hence my prediction of a draw! But any kind of win would be amazing here, couldn't care less if it was 0-1 or 3-4.
