Well if I had to guess, today's briefing to the press from our side came after we found out Griezmann wasn't going to leave. On to the next one...
Would seem likely.

Not ours or Griezmann's fault really, just one of those things. At least it's happened early.

Shit mentality tbh. He's moaned about the weather he's moaned about the league maybe not suiting his style.

He's used pretty much every excuse out there not to challenge himself, now with his chance to move to one of the biggest clubs in football he chooses to waste his best years in the little neighbour club.

Good luck Antoine, I hope you don't regret it.

This is nothing like the Pogba transfer.
Of course it is. Reasonably young French International, rated one of the best in the world. Deep down everyone knows it's going to happen but get swept along in the muppet tide of 'will he, won't he' for the summer.

Now is the time to start worrying about City, I didn't care about what they did because we had Griezmann coming now that's off I'm officially concerned about next season we need world class players and there's very few of them around :(
They haven't managed to sign a world class player either.

This next statement is HUGELY if this is all true and we won't sign him this summer (and hope we still do), and a lot is down to the athletico ruling today - Would you still sign him next season at £85m odd or say his ship has sailed? He'll be 27+ years old and I don't think he has more than 3 years left at the top (if that) at that age, specially in a physically dominating league which is perhaps why Zlatan excelled.

I'd much rather spend £120m on an 18 year old Mbop than £85m on a 27 1/2 year old for sure.

Mods can you please lock the thread? There is no discussion to be made here anymore that's worthwhile.

If only he'd said the CAS decision wouldn't matter...

Oh wait, hold up, what's this?
Good stuff. Closing thread with this as final post.

I don't see him leaving immediately if that ban is not lifted. Atletico might try to negotiate that he joins his new club in the winter window. Strike the deal now but leave during winter.
Not going to happen :)
Ducker vs Acquire me, who will come out on top of the battle of the real ITK...stay tuned.
I will.
And this:

Griezmann: "Now more then ever Atleti."

If anything significant changes, thread will be reopened. Until then, go wild in the Perisic thread or something.

For what's it's worth, a friend who works for the club is still saying this is happening.

Whether he's correct or not we shall see, but last summer he was spot on about Pogba and Zlatan weeks in advance.

If he signs it will be like the don't cry wolf. If he doesn't sign it will still be like the don't cry wolf.

I can understand him changing his mind and wanting to stay. Not all players are ruthless cnuts like Suarez or Ramos.

Which club, United ? Seems to me we are putting this on ice to first buy a striker, then finish this off. As opposed to the opposite which would almost surely result in Lacazette fee going up (assuming the entire Lacazette thing isn't just a massive diversion).

Yeah I will.only admit it is over when the transfer window slams shut. Too many contradictory messages from Griezmann, journos and people close to Griezmann to really think this is the end.

I still wouldn't be too optimistic about signing Griezmann this window, maybe next year.

I agree, at the risk of sounding like a deluded muppet. What's the go with Pogba's social media teasing/interviews? I don't wanna invest too much but where there's smoke...

I think it is the end for now, he looks like he doesn't want to abandon Atletico because of their transfer ban, next summer when they can sign players he may leave.

I have a weird feeling United will sign Neymar out of the blue like Anderson and Nani.

Specially with Messi being found guilty in Spanish courts, him being next probably.

 Not a chance in hell pal. If we were signing Neymar I guarantee you the club would be making a much bigger deal of it to generate interest.

Personally not that arsed about him signing or not, we can still have a good window if we get a ST like morata or even lacazatte, a good cb and keane as backup, fabinho and maybe another mf as back up, semedo, willian or douglas costa on wings. This sort of a team will help us compete next season.

We'll sign him. Late this August, or in January. Have faith fellow muppets!

I think we want to avoid burning bridges with Atletico. We're probably interested in multiple of their players, for the future.

WTF is this. Why do we have an announcement telling people to calm down?

Who the feck are the sad muppets actually crying about a player not signing for United?

With Griezmann, I think it has to be this summer or not at all. Not because he will be older or no longer value for money but because this is a huge summer for the club in the transfer market.

For next season the club needs a far stronger attacking unit. Griezmann seemed like the man that attack would be built around. If he doesn't come this summer, the club needs alternatives to move on without him. Waiting a year for the focal point of the attack is not an option.

If he really has had a late change of heart this could mean a huge late change in the transfer plans.
