1. Journos

Given both BBC and Di Marzio being the two most reliable sources, my main takeaway is that:

Griezmann is no longer a priority

If Di Marzio is telling the truth, Mbappe and Morata are Top 2, with Griezmann being 3rd.

Logically, with Zlatan likely out til Jan, priotizing #9 makes total sense, hence Mbappe and Morata. Priotizing the first two doesn't mean we are not gonna get the 3rd.

2. Griezmann's own words

3. Sportbet and Ladbroke still pricing 70% (down from 85% before latest news). Do you think they are that "stupid" if the odds is equal to the level of "meltdown here in caf" ??

The meltdown seems irrational. There is just too many "noise" out there (ie some journos claimed MU not gonna buy this summer etc...)

String all three pictures together.......

I still expect Griezmann to be signed. You can quote me :devil:

Wasn't expecting that. Though I do agree that getting a no.9 is more important.

Yep, I think he's the obvious target now. Pretty gutted if we don't get Griezmann though but I think this has some legs yet, bare in mind that this all comes out on the same day the Atletico ban appeal is rejected. There's a strong chance we are playing games here.

I think so. I've read both BBC and Telegraph's stories on this and timeline just doesn't add up. Either a game on how much cash we pay up front or someone else has become available. Don't think it's him wanting to stay with this ban, the ban is only till January so not exactly a long wait.

All joking and ironic melting down aside, you guys do know that this is just maneuvering over the price or breakdown of the fee, right? Just down to that now

So all the journos who said it was off are now saying it's on and vice-versa?

Three english journo's, including BBC, all reported the exact same story within minutes of each other. It was a briefing from the club to signal the Griezmann deal was off.

Seems an obvious tactic to me. Leaking that your interest is 'cooling' in order to give leverage when you're negotiating, making it look like you're prepared to walk away. Every transfer story (legitimate ones) are put out there by someone with an agenda.

Did anyone say GriezmOFF yet? Griezmoff. Thank you for your attention.

Dont we need a replacment for Rooney too?

So two strikers that we need or spunk £90m on a number 10 we'd like?

What a load of bollocks. Need a break from the transfer bullshit.

I really rate Griezmann but I don't think he's the type of player we should be looking to play as our main striker.

So then why did we not pursue Auba for example and play Griezmann behind him. PSG are signing one of the World's best strikers for around 60million, and we're cooling interest in Griezmann to blow nearly double that on far inferior players in Lukaku and/or Belotti. It makes no fecking sense.

Literally only reason I can fathom as to this shambles of a decision is Jose's reliance on having big work horses as his strikers.

Negotiating what, exactly? Atleti don't have to sell, in fact they would prefer not to, considering they can't replace him and he's their best player. It will be either pay the full fee up front or feck off.

You've never really watched him before have you? he's a 9. And he scored 20 goals in half a season, I'm sure 25 won't be a problem
I've watched him a lot. He has never played as a front man alone, but on a duo mostly with Falcao. That is his best position (the same as Griezmann's), playing alongside a #9 striker, dropping down a bit, going on wings etc etc. He's scored 20 goals in a team that has scored 159 goals in total.

I'm not really the person to ask regarding that am I?

Gosh, our fan base is so knee jerk and negative it is depressing.

One, the ban is only till Jan 2018 isn't it? Doesn't that mean that Atlético only goes half season without registering player?

Two, like Barca they can still buy players and park them, they just can't register them.

Three, if I was Atletico, I would use this transfer ban to jack up the prices. After all why not, if you are going to be handicapped might as well squeeze more money if you can.

Four, so what if all journos have been briefed? It just means the club said something. Yes, we could be saving face but it is more likely a negotiating tactic. Griezmann has one foot out the door and Atletico just wants more money. I hope Atletico bites, because it seems many of our fans have.

Five, we will get him next season then. What's the problem?

Mbappe is not a number 9. He is just like Griezmann, a second striker, and he will not guarantee us 25+ goals a season.
In my opinion, we should go for Morata. Comparing to Lukaku, he's cheaper, better technically and faster. About Belotti, I'm really sceptical about him, and I don't like strikers from Italy. Add that on the top of the 100 million release clause.

Morata. You just said we need 25+ goals? Who will be getting them then?

How can you negotiate a price with a club that would much rather keep hold of him?

That's not how transfers work. No club wants to sell players unless there's a financial need. Doesn't mean 99% of transfers are "full fee up front or fick off"

City close to making Third signing of the season. We cant even finalize our fecking targets. feck you woody.

If we can get Martial, Pogba & Greizmann to work France should thank us for eternity.

I'm not really the person to ask regarding that am I?

Ye, wasn't genuinely asking you dude, was rhetorical. It's just so fecking frustrating, signing players like Lukaku over Griezmann is exactly why we are in this position in the first place. To see City strengthening with top players like Silva, being linked to other top players, taking into account how superior their attack is to ours already, while we are apparently cooling interest in the one World Class player available this summer is just gutting.

We've got one of the worst, if not the worst attack out of the top 6, signing one of the World's best players could maybe be a remedy for that. Whatever though, what do I know, I'm just a fan after all.

Whatever happens though, Jose has no excuses next season, if his signings don't bring in trophies, he should be judged accordingly.

And, crucially, City will pay the whole fee upfront (money is no object) whereas we will look to pay it in installments over several years with lots of add ons, caveats, etc

Isnt that just the consequence of being a rich club due to how we operate as a business rather than a rich club because of a fat cat owner?

Ahhhh this year's Wesley Sneijder/Thiago Alcantara/Toni Kroos.....

United never let me down
