Do you find it a bit odd that our reserve strikers never make it to the first team ,the last striker to have a long period in the first team was mark robins and he did't last that long.I hope one of this lot make it.

It is odd, if you put it into context. There are many home-grown strikers in the Premiership, (no need to name-names.)
But, saying that, looking at the current crop, there's a good chance that one of them will feature this season, especially with only 3 strikers in the first-team squad.

Well it doesn't help that they generally end up playing in midfield in the professional game... look at the 92 team, three of the four strikers are now midfielders, messrs Savage, Scholes and Kirovski while Richard Irving vanished into obscurity after his short spell with Forest..
The truth is they have all been pretty mediocre over the years, Robins included... we haven't produced any real quality upfront since Hughes and Whiteside, and note yet again one of them ended up as a midfielder!

Its very sad but we seem to be best at producing midfielders only. Webber seems to be good, but world class I doubt.

How could you know which young player is going to become a good striker? It's obvious that we'll have to let some of them play (more than one appearance of course) in the first team and let them prove themselves...
Futhermore, most of the football stars are gettin' old, there will certainly be a big need for young players (18-21 years) in a very near future.

Yes most first team youth players are midfielders,but suerly its up to the coaches to train them into world class strikers.
Much of the art of finishing is instinct, especially when it comes to positioning. That is something you can't teach. Maybe that is the reason for the lack of top notch finishers, something we haven't produced since... ermmm... actually I can't think of any at all!
