My initial topic got deleted right after I posted it  so this is the second time I'm posting this..!!
Firstly, I think it's been a great season even if it looks like that we'll end up with no trophies this year :(
We played some champagne football during much of the season and showed what a class team we are. I think the whole meaning of winning trophies is playing attractive football, and just being able watch United do that has been a pleasure. Who could have thought that we would still be in contention for the league this time around, when we were 11 points behind Liverfools(potentially 14 since they had a game in hand ) back in December, and that's just one example of the true spirit of this team, to be able to come back from that kind of situation.
And of course, who could forget the classic games this season, noticeably the 5-3 win at WHL, 4-3 at Elland Road to shut the Scums up, and the 2-0 win at Deportivo.
I know I'm in no position to question Fergie's tactics, but I've been disappointed with some of his tactical decisions throughout the season. I initially supported his 4-4-1-1 of playing Scholes behind Ruud 'cos Scholes is such a class player, but it came obvious that Scholes couldn't adapt to that position. Playing Giggsy behind worked brilliantly at times, but I think Giggsy is more natural on the wing with the free role rather than being in the middle.
I really feel sorry for Ole. He has done EVERYTHING to claim his starting place this year, and I was really gutted that he didn't start against Bayer in the second leg. He and Ruud have formed the best strike partnership in Europe just like Raoul has said, and I don't know why Fergie keeps leaving him out in these important games, when 4-4-2 is UNDOUBTFULLY our best formation. I really hope we stick to 4-4-2 with Ole and Ruud up front in Europe as well, given there aren't any exceptional situations or injuries.

Barthez: Recovered well from his early-season slump but I still feel that he lacks the command and presence you need as a goal-keeper. I still don't feel that assurance with him though...

Gazza: Has had a great season, even though he had a shaky start. Has yet again proven that CB is his best position, but I think he got back to his best in playing right-back recently 'til he got injured. Legend..!! :D

Blanc: Brilliant. Answered the challenge of replacing Jaap and given us his game-reading and experience. Too bad we didn't sign him earlier.

Ronny: Injury-prone but when fit, always reliable.

Silvestre: What an improvement in his game.!!
I think many would agree it's down to Larry's presence. ;)

Becks: I think he has shown tremendous maturity and character to come back from his slump and time on the sideline. Fergie's masterplan striked again, and Becks showed what a world-class player he is.

Keano: What can you say?!?! The heart and soul of this team and a true living legend.

Scholes: I think Scholesy has had a disappointing season compared to his high standards. Didn't help that he had to play in unfamiliar roles of supporting Ruud and as a wide player due to injuries, but still showed his brilliance.

Giggsy: Sheer class isn't he?!?! Although hit by nagging injuries he is the BEST WINGER in the world. Was disappointing against Bayer but just like Roy suggested( I think) he was our best player in Europe this season.

Seba: I think ppl target him 'cos of his massive transfer fee and high profile, but I don't think he is unsettled, but I think his inconsistency is his problem. Didn't help that he has been carrying his injury.

Butty: His best season ever.!!
Has shown maturity and great development.

Ruud: A legend-in-making. It's just a dream come true to see him in the Red shirt, and to see him playing football again. I think he has been tired in the last couple weeks and shown fatigue, but still, what a debut season. :D

Ole: Our saviour. Feel sorry for him that he has now been left on the bench for the crunch games in Europe for 2 consecutive seasons-against Bayer in the return leg and against Bayern last season in Munich. Should be a starter no matter what.

Phizza,Wes,Irwin and O'shea have played significant roles, and I was really impressed with O'shea 'til he got injured. And even though Diego hasn't scored for us yet, I think many would agree that his workrate and movement have been very impressive. Can't wait 'til his full season next season.
Overall, I think all the United fans as a whole should stick together and thank the lads for another fantastic season. I mean, who else besides United can give you the joy, heartache and agony like they do?!?! :p

Our season has not been a disaster. This season we've proved our selves the best in the prem. To come form ninth place to lead the table for so lon till we lost to middlesboro and to still be with in a shout of winning the premiership despite our poor early season form talks volumes about our quality. We even got to a champons league semifinal with most of our key players having bad seasons not to mention the injuries. There is no doubt if the right players are brought in in the summer we will be incincible enough for the treble. A times our football was so sublime like in our 2-0 and 3-2 vitories against Deportivo in the cahampions league and our 3-0 thrashing of Chelsea at the bridge. what of the 5-3 comeback versus spurs. Only United could pull that off! ;)
And despite what people think we looked best this playing with a 4-5-1 with a creative forward in the hole against tough oposition and nmost especially away from home. Hopefully next year Forlan or Di Canio will get that role in Europe.. Besides 4-4-2 got us arse kickings versus Liverpool (3-1) waya and Chelsea(3-0) at home. Even all the other prem deafeats minus the one away to Arse got us thrashings.

4-4-2 can only work if Veron and scholes play to their full potetntial in centarl midfeild which they didn't.

How they performed:

Fabien Barthez: Had and early season stinker of form. However after Fergie's support and Blanc's help he became the Barthez off old. The man off last seasson and France's current national socecer tirumphs. His only weakness is being injury prone.

Roy Caroll: Good but inexperienced. Fergie need's to bring in another experienced back up for Barthez to help him along!

Gary Neville: Best season so far since the treble. after his first few bad games, he really came into his own alongside Blanc in central defence. Blanc brought out the best in him. Even when he reverted to right back.

Blanc: Legendary. Despite his overhyped lack of pace have you seen anyone beat him for pace. His game reading and calmness is second to none. single handedly rooted out the defensive "panic sessions' that ruled the Stam era.

Ronny Johnsen: Injury prone but indispensible. Blanc and him are an incredible partnership!

Silvestre: after ealy season bullshit really came into his elemnt under Blanc's influence. He stiil drifts infield to much leaving gaps on the left of defence. Has to realise he will never play centerback for us as he does for France.

Becks: What can I say? His best season ever . Especially after Fergie rested him. I hope he does more of the same next season!

Keane: A son of the gods!!!!! :)

Scholes: His worst season living memeory. He has been moved around by Fergie before. This season he just did'nt have a good season. He will anyway be better for it next season.

Giggs: Sheer class indeed. But what promised to be a great season for him pittled out in to a fizzle. Dd wonders in the hole but we need him on the left. We lack penetration with out him there. Else we get a similar type plaer to play left whenever he joins an upfront!

Seba: Everyone has a bad season one time or another . It was Becks turn last year. Staretd the season with a bad paspport scandal from the previous season that shatterd his personalconfidence and his belief in European clubs. By the time he left Lazio it had started to affect his club form. It carried on at Old Trafford. I's a credit to the lad that he has never given up and has even played thru the pain barrier to help us get to the semi's of the Champion's league. I'm covinced next year will be Veron's year. nb:Remember Sheringham had a similar bad season when we had just bought him and as a result the Arse took the double. The followin g WORLD CUP year he helped us win a treble!! Expect a Veron ditto! ;)

Butt: His best season ever. Just a pity he lost his scoring touch of his youth.Hopefully he will keep this form and get back that too!

Ruud: Untouchable!! The hitman extrodinare. He still has not gone back to his driblling ways of PSV. Expect more fireworks from him next season!

Ole: The assasin was finally given the place he deserves in our first team. An even better finisher than Ruud. His best season yet. I believe he is at his peak!

Wes Brown : Poor ealy seaosn form hamperd his progres plus his injury. But returned with a bang to prove his reliability!

Irwin: Faithful and commited as ever.

Phill Nevile: Undoubtedly his injury spoilt his best season yet. It's a pity he needs 3/4 games to hit top form coz he is a terrible sub, especilaly when just back form injury!!

Forlan: Settled in well only goals are lacking. I saw a porgarm on him and the guy was dynamite in South America. Dribbbling, shooting and taking freekicks with both feet resulting in goals. Equally adept on either wing. Plus his work rate is phenomenal. When his goals start coming., he will be our most feared forward! Fergie's greatest coup since Cantona!

turstme next season if we add and experienced but cheap keeper, agood right and left back, a World class center back to partner Blanc and cover for Ronny, a left winger and another experienced or young cheap forward we will win the treble again!!!

Long live the REDS!!!!

Disaster of a season? Being Second in the league and being in the Semi Finals of the champions league is not what i call a disaster, it just hasnt swung our way this year, Theres been a number of thinks that has really sunk us, one of em being our formation changing thing, i believe yes the 4-4-1-1 formation could work in europe and it was proved v Deportivo, But when we played it in the league and messed about with it, then that was when we cought cought in the trouble me thinks, once we did that it seemed like soem of the players didnt knwo what there jobs where, especially Scholesy, he seemed lost in the first quarter of the season. Then theres Veron who i cant lie hasnt really impressed a whole load, But when you come From a different country a different language and a different culture, u have to be given time to settle in and i have no doubt he will improve immensily next season. another thing that cost us the title at the start of the season was when we where chopping and changing our centre backs, if u remeber we had about 10 different parings in our first games, and thats never good for a goalkeeper and a defence when your backline is gettin changed about, what i think Fergie needs to do in the summer is buy Another Striker, either it be to play Alongside RVN or to be 3rd striker, maybe someone like Ronaldo? also id like to see a Centre back and a right back brought in and move Neville to Centre back where he looked solid This season, we all dream of the lieks of Nesta and Thuram but i think hofland is a real possibilty, Silvestre,Johnson,Hofland,???????, and keep that defence and dont change it about, anyway hears how i think they performed.

How they performed:

Fabien Barthez: Everyone started gettin on Barthez's back after he made them mistakes v Deportivo and Arsenal but since then he hasnt had many problems, our goals against has bene our defences fault in my opinion, how come nobody can remember how good he was last season?????

Roy Carrol: We havent lost a game with Roy in goal yet, he looks like he could be a possibilty for goalkeeper when Barthez goes, hes had an excellent season.

Gary Neville: Hes played much better when hes been moved to centre back this season and i would like to see him play there next season, has got better and better as the season as gone on and we have kept the same defence,

Blanc: He aint the fastest player and at the start i wasnt so pleased we had signed him but as many of our other defenders have also done, as the season progressed he has got betetr and better, itll be good if he signs another years contract,

Ronny Johnsen: Its shit thats hes been injured, coz he is our best defender in my opinion and if he can go pre season injury free and get his fitness back up he will play a biog part of next season.

Silvestre: Hes been our most imporved player, hes become the best Left back in the prem without doubt, in his first season he was a bit dogey and was classed our worst player, but how much he has improved is fecking unbelivable, unlike most of our defenders Silvestre has been solid all season and without doubt must be kept at the club for many years to come.

Beckham: Hes been his usualy self, WORLD CLASS! and since Fergie rested him he has just been amazing, i felt if Beckham played the two legs v Leverkusen then we would be going to glasgow :( also has scored more then his fair share of goals.

Keane: WORLD CLASS IN EVERY SINGLE feckING WAY ( as usual)

Scholes: Didnt start the season that well, but that was mostly due to havign to be played upfront which just didnt work out for him, but as many of our players as the season progressed he got much much better, and maybe scored our goal of the season v Chelsea.

Giggs: Hes had better seasons Giggs, but he hasnt been to bad, soemthings been missing from him this season, hes been a bit dispointing in European nights, normaly like we have sene in the past V Juventus and Porto he really shines and gets the team going with those runs he does, that just hasnt happened this year :(

Seba: Hes a world class player who needs time to fit in, new language, new culture, new country, give him time, he will show the world how good eh si next season.

Butt: Butt has played a stormer all season and has booked his ticket on the plane to the world cup without doubt, its been his best season this season, and i hope he can keep it up for us next season aswell, When Keanes injured theres no ebtetr player to have.

Ruud: Top goalscorer in the league, Champions league and ahs won the pfa player of the year, he has been fecking brilliant, i didnt know he was going to be this good.

Ole: Another great season from Solskjaer and the partnership of RVN 7 Solskjaer coudl really tare defences apart next season.

Wes Brown : Didnt have the best of early seasons, but who in our defence did except silvestre?! sicne coming back from injury has looked solid and is one for th future.

Irwin: Legend, has been class for us down the years on the left, but its now time to say goodbye and give Silvestre that spot,

Phill Nevile: He has had an average season one game he looks outstanding and the next game he looks a bit dogey, lets hope he has a good world cup.

Forlan: althought he aint got his first goal yet he has looked quiet good, hes fast and has a lot of flair, once he gets his first goal he will be puttin em in left right and centre.

(ive left out a few players, O'Shea etc but thats because they aint made many games)

Next season itll be a totaly different side in my opinion, a settled down and ready to go team out to prove a point to all the ABUs, and Fergie will ocne again win it for us, Arsenal have got lucky this year, and theyll soon see who is the best,

COME ON UNITED!
