everyone has been going crazy in the transfer forum as would be expected as we had a somewhat underachieving season.
But our current success is built on the youth which AF had the bottle to play over experience such as Kankan. Has AF got the guts to do the fledgling trip again and are the youngsters good enough?
I've seen Davis and Webber play for England U20s and both were impressive but are they good enough to make it? Fletcher and Timm look good as does Richardson.
But im starting to feel that we have become a victim of our own success - our current success is built on faith in youth - but now that we have that success, the basis for it (thats youth) cant break through anymore. Instead we bring in expensive foreigners whose desire and passion may be criticised (im not having a JSV dig there). In 3 years time, Keano will be 33 ish, becks 30, scholesy 30, butty 31, gaz 30 (those ages may well be wrong) and they will be nigh on over the hill. Replacing that lots would cause a mass coronary for the plc. Unfortunately I reckon the fledglings will have to broken up now rather than later so that we can still have a serviceable team in 5 yrs time.
