Yoshinori Muto

He's having a decent first season outside of Japan at Mainz, but he'd still be an underwhelming signing. He also needs to stay at Mainz for a couple more seasons and prove himself, IMO.

After the Ayoze Perez links, it seems like we're mostly looking at low-risk young-ish attackers for squad depth.

Dont think he would be good enough at this stage for us, 17 games and 7 goals is what i read. Is that the best we can go for in January? Very underwhelming

I haven't seen him but looking at his positioning looks like he can play RM-LM & CF. These are the types of players that would work well.

Wasn't chelsea interested in him this year before his move to mainz?

That is correct. He snubbed them for Mainz because he did not think he could get much playing time at Stamford Bridge.

There was a school of thought that Chelsea wanted him for their new shirt sponsor.

The sort of rough diamonds we need to scour for in January, we know LVG likes flexible players who work hard, he certainly fits that category.

I liked him when I saw him playing for the Japanese national team. I don't think he's ready for United though.

Would be great if we bought him, and were relying on him and Martial for goals whilst Rooney just Rooneys.

But in all seriousness, as long as we have scouted properly and think hes ready, then would like to see it happen given we need attackers (strikers).

I'd understand if you weren't a van gaal supporter but what you say is something im really looking forward to.

Some players we have bought might be struggling for form; but i dont actually regret buying a single one of them. They all have a specific role to play in the squad.

Hopefully this january window will only lead to those rough diamonds coming in that need a few (but not many) polishes.

If I remember correctly he's pretty intelligent. Went to an elite university in Tokyo and put off moving to Europe to complete his studies.

It's K guys, I'll buy him on FIFA and will see how he plays like and report back.

Weirder still seeing them take up Uniteds spot on J-Sports. I think its twice now we've been dropped as a live game in favour of Leicester.

They're bigger than City over here. I still haven't seen any Leicester shirts though.

A great signing...if we were fecking Norwich!!

Jesus, has the bar really been lowered this far? Not the quality of player we should be looking at ffs!

And you base this on ? The guy has played less than 20 matches in the Bundesliga - and done really well. So why are you certain he is not good enough ? And I am not saying he IS good enough - I will be the first to admit I have absolutely no clue as I don't even think I have seen him play...but it's a bit strange to judge a player unless you have seen him play quite a few times.

Another one of those signings for more deals in Asia?

tbf Park was good for the money we paid, and Kagawa although he struggled a bit for us I think he could have done ok in different circumstances.

Not says there's any truth with this rumour though, and have no idea how good this guy is, but 'The Japanese Messi' sounds good.
