There's a rumor on goal.com about Scolari sending scouts to watch him for Bordeaux. He played vs Chelsea at the group stage and was invisible at the Bridge but looked quality in the away fixture.

Anybody here follows this player long enough to know how good he is ? I remember him being at AC Milan but then they loaned him out to Bordeaux to get more playing time. He must have been a top prospect to be snatched by Milan at young age.

cant see why milan would sell him...

they are not exactly the youngest team so i would have thought they would hope to bring him to the san siro this summer or next

Possibly because after Kaka's decision to snub City Milan are still in need of money to rebuild their aging squad?

I'm just guessing here, but I'd imagine after missing out on CL for this season they're not exactly swimming in money and with so many 30+ players in the squad the possibilities of raising funds through sales are limited.

Kaka stays,Ronaldinho just arrived and Pato is untouchable. So who would they sell to raise funds?

do they need to sell to raise funds?

they will need a couple of new centrebacks and a new fullback...

but if gourcuff joins them they i dont see they need much more than that and i would have thought milan would be able to manage that much (besides they might be expecting a massive influx from far east shirt sales)

Don't know much about shirt sales, I'm just looking at their squad and see these players:

Goalkeepers: Dida (35 y.o.), Kalac (36), Abbiati (31).

Defenders: Maldini (40), Nesta (32), Kaladze (30), Jankulovski (31), Favalli (36), Zambrotta (31).

Midfielders: Seedorf (32), Gattuso (30), Emerson (32), Pirlo (29).

Strikers: Inzaghi (35), Shevchenko (32).

I'd say this squad needs more than just a couple of new defenders.

It could also do with a decent young midfielder, someone like Gourcouff for example.

abbiatti is only 31 not exactly old for a keeper

they have zambrotta and if they get a coupld of centre backs and a left back im sure there is a couple more seasons left in kladaze and jankulovski

pirlo and gattuso have a few more seasons left in them as well as flamini and gourcuff and oh yeah that kaka guy... seedorf and beckham would be capable of being good squad players for a couple more years

and up front they have pato, ronaldiniho so perhaps one more player to add into the mix with schevchenko...

so not a massive amount of players that they will need to have a very strong squad next season...

yes they will need to keep building for a couple more years due to the age of the team... but vander sar, neville, scholes and giggs aint exactly young but thats not goping to be the end for united

If the buy close is reached by the club and if Gourcuff is happy to leave Milan there is no way they could keep him. The best move for him is that Bordeaux buys him and meet his possible high wages

Zambrotta is also in his 30s, by the way.

United comparison doesn't work though. VDV,Scholes and Giggs are squad players on this team, no more than that. Your best players, your driving force so to speak, like Ronaldo,Rooney,Vidic etc are in their prime and have many years of top football ahead of them. Plus, you have spent a bundle over the last couple of years bringing young talent into the team. Milan imo should have started rebuilding two-three years ago.

This is all true but a strange argument for why they would sell a talented young player like Gourcouff.

Or alternatively they bring Gourcuff back from his loan, and its like a new signing - helping to rebuild the side.

They acquired Thiago Silva from Brazil, a center-half about to join them in the Summer.

Never said they would, just thought they could always use the money if good offer comes along.

Plus, the player himself may be tempted to move somewhere where he'll get better wages and doesn't have to compete with the likes of Kaka and Ronaldinho for the place in the lineup.

I think you missed my post,it's not up to Milan as in most loans to "bring back" Gourcuff or not.

It sounded a bit like football manager. Has there been any statement released on that matter and if so could you please link it?

He is afterall contracted to his club.

I'll look for it but most are in French surely.

I know it's Goal but it's pretty much accurate,if Milan doesn't guarantee more football to Yohan (unlikely considering their team and since Kaka is staying) and also Bordeaux is willing to pay the price,Yohan will stay.
Next season ends with a WC,he won't stupid to take a gamble in a very key season to his career.Bordeaux could buy him and sell him for more than 15 millions dollars too

There's a clause in his loan contract, rather stupidly of Milan, which allows Bordeaux to buy him outright. They'll likely try to do so before the summer transfer window, to secure him before anyone.

Can't imagine why Gourcuff would go back to Milan, anyway...

Gah, that really is stupid if true. As I said it does sound a bit Football Manager-ish.

When I played it Bordeaux bought him every single time... Sunny, Banega and Butelle all have similar deals in the game, so I hope those ones arent real...

I spend about half of my time in France, and my best mate there is a huge Bordeaux fan. He claims Bordeaux have an option to buy, so his future is out of Milan's hands now. I also read something to that effect in L'equipe.

 how are they doing ? I've only seen them on PES and FIFA tbh

I dont know about Butelle as he's with Lille on loan I believe. I take it he isnt first choice then? :P In the game they usually buy him for an agreed fee of like 3 million.

Sunny... Well he hardly ever gets a game for Osasuna. He's very young and looks a good prospect. Again they usually buy him for an agreed 3 million or so.

Ever Banega doesnt play too often for Atletico Madrid, but Maniche was suspended recently so Banega got a game at the weekend. He played well and created a bunch of attacks with his passing and he got stuck in, the best involvement I've seen him produce with Atletico. Then in injury time he decides to dive in and get his second booking and therefore sent off :wenger: Would like to think he'll be back at Valencia next season, but he was an expensive signing (around £14 million) and the club have done well without him, so they could be looking to recoup some cash from his sale.

As for Gourcuff I've only seen him very little, but he's impressed me when I have seen him. Cant say I'd complain if we had him on our books.

Valencia ruined Banega somewhat - the guy was really talented in South America. Then Valencia came along and both Flores and Koeman isolated him, although it didn't help that he had a Manuel Fernandes level of attracting trouble and the fact that he didn't seem very good at all in Europe.

Thats mental...

No wonder they tried to get Kaka out for 100m+ so they could reinvent the team..

Ancelloti seems to like his experienced players a lot. Anti-Wenger.

Their young players have been disappointing. Pato's only been good this season, while Gourcuff was poor for Milan when he got his chances. And Flamini's not good enough in some aspects.

Well, he ruined himself to be honest. Well not ruined... He's like 20 years old, so much time to develop into a fantastic player.

He went to the Olympics against Emery's wishes and didnt play at all for Argentina. Had he not have gone and respected what Emery wanted from him, he'd have been involved in Valencia's ressurgance this season.

If he stays next season I hope they give him lots of chances to prove himself. But in the current situation, if someone puts in a good offer for him it wouldnt be a big surprise if Valencia decided to cash in.

Been reported that Milan have said publicly that he can leave if the right offer comes in.

Seems to do well in France but a risk for anyone in the Prem.

Officially signed for Bordeaux -

Gourcuff signs for Bordeaux

French midfielder starlet Yoann Gourcuff has left Milan to sign for Bordeaux, the Ligue 1 side have announced.

Gourcuff arrived at Milan in 2007 from Rennes and was touted as the new Zinedine Zidane.

The talented playmaker didn't have many chances to prove himself and was sent out on loan to Bordeaux.

As part of the agreement, Bordeaux were given the right to make the deal permanent for £15m.

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani admitted that he hoped the French outfit wouldn't take that option, but it has been confirmed that Gourcuff is now 100 per cent a Bordeaux player.

Gourcuff has signed a four-year deal and will try and build his career in his homeland.

“I am very happy to continue my adventure that I started with the Girondins,” he enthused.

“I had been thinking about this decision all season and we have created an agreement that suits all parties.

“I would like to thank the directors on both sides for allowing this transfer and I am ready to accept this new challenge.”

Milan fans must be tearing their hair out, the Milan board inexplicably put a clause in the loan contract which had a set fee that meant if Bordeaux were to pay 15m euros then they could sign Gourcuff. He's such a talented young player, Milan could really have done with him and he could seriously have become a great for the club had they just given him a chance but instead Bordeaux have profited from the incompetence of Milan.
