A wonderfully long night in some respects pending on where you were coming from, not for me (shouldn't have been at least - it was though)

I jumped on a train from the wonderful town of Bolton to Blackburn and then to Burnley - when we got off the train at Burnley central it was like the middle of no where to start with, not to mention getting lost and asking some local who didn't seem to know him self, then again, neither did the officer we asked.

After actually finding the ground after 30 minutes of looking for it, we were in the pub watching re runs of this weekends football and listening to all the Burnley fans talking about how they were going to win tonight and how they were such a big club . . .

The inside of Turfmoor isn't actually as bad as I had imagined, although wooden seating brought back memories from last Boxing Day where I ended up in the Home end at Everton

The game it self wasn't too bad despite the 15 minute delay for kick off which rather than fill it with something worth while, they got their 2 mascots to run onto the pitch and do some crappy dance as to which point the United fans sang to them "What the f**king hell is that"

Danny Pugh should of had a hattrick but some how managed to strike straight at the keeper every time, Diegos goals was genius as he found himself one on one with the keeper, only to put it to his left hand side and bang, united were one nil up, little to the liking of the Burnley fans who all at some point probably called off side

I had a good old sing song before and during the game, with 4000 strong who couldn't, also started a few including the 12 days of Cantona and the were the loyal supporters at the end amongest a few I can remember

Half time rolled round and legend Willie Morgan done what effectivly was a Cash Dash draw and got a good reception from the United end of the ground, Not sure what was going on with the cheerleading, it was all out of time and every thing, was more amusing than anything

The second half rolled through quicker than the first so it seemed and some good chances set up by Chadwick seemed almost wasted as United struck high, wide or at the keeper, but eventually our time came again as Solskjaer struck home from a wonderful pass accross the face of the box and into the back of the net, Burnley were well and truely out of it by this point, although the bumblee bee mascot decided to dot his worm like move on the side lines to try and inspire the crowd, but the only thing he got was a song from the United end - I'll leave you guessing as to what it was . . .

The end of the match was coming clear and apparently there was an escort out to the train station for United Fans, we found this escort and it was almost as though they couldn't be bothered, they merely pointed us in the direction of some hill which me and my mate walked up only to realise that it wasn't anywhere near where we had to go, we eventually found the station and jumped on a train only to find the last train to Manchester had gone and we couldn't believe it when we got to Blackburn that there was no trains after 11pm at night! We had to jump in a cab back to Bolton in the end.

Anyways, apparently the man of the match was Glen Little according to Burnley - how, we'll never know, but the United end called for Fergie to sign him up in song

And who could forget all the songs about Jerzy Dudek!

And to be honest, you really don't think I could go this entire post with out mentioning David May do you? Our Captain played well in my opinion - although he is a guareenteed superstar everytime!

All round a good trip and even better match

Burnley 0 - 2 United

just a quick point about songs

What was it?

Nice one yaps :)

Good to hear!

I only saw the match report but this paragraph cheered me up:

"John O'Shea, drafted into midfield, split the Burnley defence with a marvellous through ball and the Uruguayan weighed up his shot before steering it beyond Beresford."

Is there anything O'Shea can't do? Incredible!

According to TV the man of the match was Wes Brown !

Must of been the Burnley fans man of the match then or something, who cares....

"One Glen Little,
Theres only one Glen Little
One Glen Little
Theres only one Glen Little"

And whats even funnier, the United fans sung that, not even a peep from the Burnley fans!

Ain't it Little thats a United fan? Or was that one of the other Burnley players?

Nice report Yaps, wish more people would do them - I know we all took the piss out of Barca99, but the match reports were often a good read, although they were mostly about how much she could drink. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

Probably! There was something on the front of their local evening paper about him with a young lad with a United shirt on, didn't read it as I was desperatly trying to get home!

Somebodies got to

In relation to Glen Little, He is a life long Utd fan from Northern Ireland and gave an interview in local press before the game that Playing Man Utd would be one of the highlights of his career.

I'm delighted that he was awarded man of the match.

Yaps..who is Gary Little? ;)
Baz, Glenn Little is actually from England. He did play for Glentoran when he was younger and in fact when the Glens sold him, he was at that time the most expensive player sold from the league. I think it was just under 100k
He is like you say, a lifelong United fan, as his dad, his brother and i think his granda too.
Id love for United to sign him. He's a big strong lad, good pace, good feet & is a brilliant crosser. I reckon he'd do a damn good job on the right wing for us. I mentioned this in the transfer forum a few weeks ago but no-one knew who he was LOL
thought he played well last night too

much tugging of the forelock to Yap's excellent behind enemy lines bit.
but,for what it's worth, these are my 2002 Burnley armchair highlights and observations courtesy of Sky tv and a 2 for the price 1 offer on selected lagers at Morrisons.

#1 Why are United fans still singing that Christmas Cantona dirge?
#2 David May's cheesy grin after nearly scoring an own-goal.
#3 How much Willie Morgan looked like a middle-aged woman.
#4 Pugh (who?) Barley McGrew.
#5 Silvestre worrying about dotting the i's and crossing the t's so much he delivered his shakiest performence in months.
#6 How playing Nistelrooy and him not scoring backfired psycologically ahead of the Arse game.(Does that make sense?...I blame the metal impurities in the French tinned lager).
#7 Vague memories stirred of visiting Turf Moor sometime in the last century, 19(?) years ago. I remember getting off the "special" train; a 100 or so of us doing sheep impressions in the station holding pen, before being frogmarched to the ground, late for the game and being bundled into a corner section of the ground away from the main United following. Alcohol fuzzes over the particulars, but I remember we scored near the end.
#8 Ole giving it the double fist celebration at the end.
#9 O'Shea in midfield!
#10 Diego covering every blade of grass on a pure adrenalin high.

In response to these 2

#1 I actually started the Cantona christmas song thank you, every other Cantona one came out so I started that one, and as you heard it on tv, must mean United fans still like it if we were that loud so you could hear it on Tv!

#2 David Mays a superstar, end of story

:)
