XBOX 360 media streaming.

Ok so i usually stream the odd thing from my PC to my X-BOX so i can watch it on a decent TV in the company of friends.

BUt i have this MKV file which doesnt work, i tried converting it to MP4 with a program called gotSent but still the file doesnt show up on my XBOX.

Can any of you kind cafites with actual computer skills give me some tips? any help would be much appreciated.

I moved this to the Entertainment Forum.

You can try IMTOO MPEG Encoder, or Videora Xbox Video Converter and they should both work fine. MKV is a common high-def format, and shouldn't be a problem on the 360 once converted.

Either MP4 or WMV-HD should be fine.

Is it just that one MKV file that doesn't work or all of them?

If you don't already, try using this; ps3mediaserver - Project Hosting on Google Code

It does work with the 360 despite the name.

Installing divx7 on your PC supposedly will allow you to stream mkv files, not tried it though.

I use an app called tversity, it will encode any file format on the fly. I use it for my mkv files as that's what most hi def TV shows and movies use. Excellent utility and it's free to download.
