I'm using a belkin HDMI 1.3 cable instead of the xbox cables (because I couldn't find any in stores). The system seems to work great but I was wondering if using 3rd party cables could cause issues?

It's not as clear cut as it is made out to be by many people, but for XB360 any bog standard HDMI cable will suffice over short distances, as it only supports the HDMI 1.2 interface. You don't need a 1.3 CAT2 cable.

The cable I have is 6ft. I just picked it up because it was literally the last one in stores (I visited 4) and the price was right ($49 CDN). I refuse to buy a monster cable (upwards of $100+ CDN) because I hear they are a rip off.
I know I don't need a 1.3 cable, but it just happens that the cable I purchased is 1.3. I'm assuming this is ok?

Yes, it's better that it's a CAT2 for 6ft.

They are very cheap, its good stuff, and the shipping is ridiculous. I ordered something at 11:00am Saturday standard shipping, and it arrived Tuesday....not bad from CA to FL.

I ordered mine from monoprice a few months ago - shipping was pretty fast and I'm glad I didn't buy the overpriced cables from Futureshop.
I've seen an HDMI cable at one of those dollar stores (although it wasn't a dollar, it was probably around $5) - not sure how good it is, but if you're looking for something cheap you might want to look in places like that.
