The only people to make a success out of these programs has been Girls Aloud, Will Young and possibly Gareth Gates however the last two have fallen off the face of the earth, like the other winners and future winners.
The last two have fallen off the face of the earth?
Leona Lewis has just had a number one single for like six weeks, and same with an album, and Shayne Ward has singles at No. 2 and No.3, and an album at number 2, all in the past two months.
Leon won because most people don't take the programme seriously, and rooted for the little guy...especially as they knew Rhydian will get some sort of deal anyway.
Rhydian was never going to win a popularity contest.
I don't think Leon was ready tbh, but full credit to him for having the guts to do it when he's obviously got a really nervous disposition - he's never had any training, and only started singing this year. It's quite an achievement really. He's got a good voice but it needs some control and training. There's no way he was as polished and professional as Rhydian - maybe that's why he won? People like the underdog, and can see potential.
Mind, he made a better job of the duet and of the winners song than Rhydian.
Katherine Jenkins was more of a hindrance than a help and probably put Rhydian off, because he hit one hell of a flat note in his duet.
