One of the PL managers said recently that the PL was going to all the full on wrestling that we see at corners but that in European leagues it's absolutely not allowed.

What do you think ? I would rather get rid of it and have the same rules on a corner as jn other parts of the pitch.

I think it's got out of control.

i can see laws brought in to address the crowding of the keeper - that’s where it’s stemming from

Arsenal are the biggest culprits, but many other teams including ourselves are taking a similar approach now.

Its one of those gaps in sports that hasn’t been exploited and then someone does it, everyone copies, and it gets changed

Nobody should be allowed in the 6 yard box before the corner has been taken

All it will take is one goal to be disallowed and suddenly all focus will be on it. And it’s been a long time coming. Think we were fouled for both goals against Arsenal but our players were too embarrassed to make a fuss of it.

I thought it'd be interesting to see how Arsenal fared in europe with their corner routines. Not a fan personally.
I get why referee's are missing it in real time but i feel like var should be stepping in to help out.

I believe the refs are on top of it. They halt play to tell players to stop doing it at every corner… only to let them carry on doing it straight after.

Should only be allowed if a player uses a stone cold stunner, tombstone or people's elbow.

It probably wouldn't take much to fix. Clamp down on it for a week or two. Give a penalty against us to make an example of someone. Most teams would cop on very quick

Thought it was worse a few seasons ago tbh. And the dark arts have existed since football has. Just that we keep microscoping every single thing in this sport now.

What's the world wildlife fund got to do with corners?
Protecting the endangered species of open play goals and sporting behaviour?

Nobody should be allowed in the 6 yard box before the corner has been taken
What's wrong with this idea? It sounds pretty good to me. Only thing I can think is you'd get a lot encroachment retakes and possibly a lot more VAR calls, but maybe that'd fix itself in time.

Yeah, I'd love to see the lines come out for someone's toe entering the 6 yard box ahead of the defenders armpit. Riveting sport we've transformed this into.

Going off current technology there's a problem, yeah. But once the lines of chalk are replaced with burning laser walls there'll be no need for checks.

I feel like they did this at the start of the season about 4 years ago. The stuff still continued, they just stopped punishing it after about a month.

That's a great shout tbf

Sounds like the square ball rule in GAA, it would be a stupid rule to be honest and you'd end up with more VAR checks and lines drawn to see if an ear was across the line.

The problem is not the rules, it's the referees not enforcing the rules. That goes from everything to kicking the ball away, to time wasting and taking 20 yards up the line on throw ins.

Players cannot be penalised when the ball is dead so a lot of the grappling and fouling is done befor the ball comes into play. The solution to a lack of enforcement is not more stupid rules. Just apply the rules, give cards, penalties and free kicks for fouls on corners and this would soon stop.

But if it happens in Arsenal's box you'd get them moaning that it's turned into a Raya-l Rumble...

Such a simple fix isn't it? Neither defenders nor attackers allowed, exactly like in penalty kicks with players entering the penalty box only after the kick.

Defenders breaking the rule should lead to a retake or an indirect free kick from inside the box, while attackers breaking the rule leads to a foul/goal kick. Simple
