Would you take Firmino for Rashford

If there was some bizarre scenario where both clubs agreed to it, would you take a straight swap Bobby Firmino for our Marcus?

Wonder if there's any Liverpool fan out there asking the same question in reverse

I don’t want either

Neither are good enough for what we need.

Firmino is decent but his entire career has been made by being quite blessed by the team he is in. I think he would really struggle here.

Literally any player would struggle here, shit show from top to bottom.

I don't disagree, Firmino has divided opinion despite being in an incredible team. Him being in this shower of shit he would basically be a player who does what Mata does when he plays for us at best.

He would be class. He works hard and can drop deep and link the midfield with attackers. Oddly enough I think he would work well with pre-injury Rashford.

I would probably take Origi over Rashford at this very moment

I bet Klopp or Guardiola would have done wonders with players like Rashford and Martial.

If Firmino struggled to score goals at Liverpool, he will struggle to score goals (double) in Utd. Would you accept a #9, who can contribute every requirement for a #9, except with a return of single digit goals per season?

This remind me of Henrik Larsson, who gave brilliant movement and team play, but you guys need to do the rest.

A few seasons ago, when we were struggling on a #9, hence bringing in Ibra etc., then yes, Firmino will be a better solution than Lukaku and all the subsequent struggle thereafter.

Now, I would go for a proper #9, not necessarily the most expensive striker in the market, but someone effective, and bringing in lesser PR hassle.

United's central strikers since 2016 have been Ronaldo, Martial, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku and Cavani. Four of them are some of the lowest pressers in elite football, the other Cavani when he was fit last season really helped the overall team. So it would be interesting to see how United would do with the highest pressing forward in the league from the front. Also Firmino's job was not to score, it was to feed Salah and Mané, who knows how he would do in a different system. Could be better or worse. Anyway it's all hypothetical because a Liverpool player would never leave for United but Firmino's teamwork could open a lot of doors for someone like Bruno or a wide forward.

I'd take any half decent footballer over Rashford. He's completely useless.

No. Another 30+ forward who has seen better days is the last thing we need.

I'm going to throw up if I have to hear the fecking phrase "proper #9" again. Chelsea bought one of those this summer, "a real goalscorer who brings goals to a side" and he can't get a fecking game for them because he's terrible at mostly everything outside of finishing.

It's not 1997. Forwards have to have more to their game than just finishing chances inside the box if you ever want the team to be successful.

Not really a great example though, given the 'proper #9' they bought was the one we sold for basically the same reasons you list in your post.

Posted in another thread but this season according to Whoscored, Rashford is ranked 272 out 293 PL players who've played over 400 minutes. Statistically we'd be better playing most of Burnley and Norwich's first choice attackers upfront than Rashford.

I'd take Fred the Red over Rashford.

That was my point though, Lukaku has always been given that role as a "real goalscorer" but in reality he detracts from a side at the highest level. Those pure goalscorer types don't work in modern football, you have to have more to your game than that. Hell Man City doesn't even play with a striker half the time and they school everyone.
