Yeah, the latter. Look for the good value players at around £10 million. And there will be some, I guarentee it.
this year we need to expand the squad... if a big name target becomes available you have to look at it, but we made problems for ourselves this year by stretching the squad to its limits.

I think SAF will selfishly go for a big name.
he aint getting any younger and he still wants the CL - average players will come good for the next manager.
World Class players will help his plight.
Our squad age isnt that bad really, so id prefer a proven star as well. And fill out the rest of the 1st team with the young reserve players

The 1st. Id like to see us buy a player that will have an instant effect, and that already carries quality, no offence, as much as i think we should sign him, david bellion is hardly going to have real madrid shaking in their boots.

The latter. Purely because our squad has diminished, and at times we are down to the very bare bones.
I'd rather have D'Allesandro or possibly invest in a young prodigy like Quaresma than buy Kewell or Duff at this point. Giggsy is still top draw for me and he would be an excellent mentor to young players like D'allesanro or Quaresma imo.
Thumbs up for the mention of D'Allesandro Raoul. He's pure class. Such responsability for such a young lad. Both he and Cavenaghi for 10-12m would be fantastic.

I don't know how strong the rumour is but we have been linked with Porto's Deco. From what I've seen he would be an excellent addition to our midfield. In fact, I would like to bring in 3 portuguese players this summer with Quaresma and Postiga. All young players with good technique. We'll have no Biscans here

Isn´t D'Allesandro more of a central midfielder than a winger? We already got enough of central mid.s, I´d got with RONNIE, Quaresma and a future replacement for Keane.
I believe Sir Alex would want to win another CL trophy before he retires, so he won't get young and not superstar players such as Defoe, Bellion, Kewell or Duff although Duff may look likely to join us...so I think he would rather get players like Ronaldino, Cisse. But I may be wronged here yet if we've some good money to spend, he would prefer to get these superstars to don our colors for CL glories. I didn't say that players like Defoe, Kewell are no good as they can make us achieve EPL title. In conclusion, I can see that Sir Alex wants to win another CL title and likely that he would ask for more funds to buy Ronaldino and Cisse as well as one or two potential young Portuguees...then I may afraid that Giggsy days at Old Trafford could be over after this season (don't wish to see that happens).
i would love to see 4 players come in this summer:
Duff for LW, Quaresema for RW, Escude to give us a LB and allow O'Shea to move to DM, and another striker (Nihat, Adriano, etc.)
it would also be a good idea to go ahead and buy Cristiano Ronaldo and loan him back to Sporting so that we dont have to race to sign him later
