if we won nothing this season?
We have been spoilt with success over the past 10 years, with 2 exceptions, 95' & 98'. After those said trophyless seasons, we came back even stronger, so my theory is, Let Arsenal win the League this season, Let the scousers have their glory by progressing to the Champions League quarter finals, united can sit back and watch them wallow in the glory then........wallop, 3 more years of domination. ;) ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if we won nothing this year, but it wouldn't change anything as it's happened before as you say!

I see your point but, I don't want Arse to win the PL, I was gutted with Roma's poor performance last night and be happier if United won both competitions.

However, if I had a choice between winning nothing this season and winning in the next three, I'll do my best to get over it. And if winning this year meant that we'd win nothing in the next three then I'd forsake the season.

But Footie being what it is, both Arse and Poo can feck off from my PL title and can stay under my shadow of European supremacy for eternity, and may they both rot in hell until their corpses are no longer, and not even the dream of success enters into the black hole that has replaced the space where their minds have been occupied by the hope of glory and envy for all things red and glorious!

Perhaps we won't win anything for 10 seasons, then we could show everyone what we are made of by winning lots of plastic.

I'll be honest with you and myself here ...

Before the charity shield kicked off against the poo, I told a friend of mine "if we lose this one to poo, the season is over for me". He said "how come?" and I answered "I just don't think we'll win a single trophy this season if we lose against the poo in the charity shield" ... and it happened.

Now we're in 1st place in the PL and into the Qtr finals in the CL. I am very impressed and very happy that we reached that far ... However, if we finish the season trophyless, I won't be surprised or disappointed as I felt it from charity shield match :(

If we the PL, the CL, or even both, man oh man I'll be the happiest man on earth.

You're starting to wonder why that post got to do with this topic? Well, it would be a bad thing if it goes trophyless but it wouldn't be a surprise to me.

You want my honest greedy opinion about this?

I WANT IT ALL!!

What's this got to do with being from Ireland??? I fail to see where your comment is relevant.

Perhaps not, can't argue with you there. ;)

I don't agree at all, do you think United spent £28m on Veron and £19m on Van Nistelrooy to win something NEXT SEASON. I get a feeling you are covering yourself if United do not win anything. At this stage there is nothing to say Man United will not win anything, we are top of the league and in the QF of the champions League. Be proud of our success but each season a team enters a competition to win, not to prepare for the following season.

To be honest I'm well chuffed, given the dreadful start to be even up there in the title race and this season it would be a bonus to win it concidering we were 11 points of the pace in december !
In europe i feel that we are a little to fragile at the back to win it but a good run and some good football (eg last nite) will do me.
This season has been a season of transition ... mix up's in all areas of play defence = stam out, blanc in Midfield = veron in attact= sheri out RVN in Cole out Yorke never to be seen again Forlan in and OLE becoming a regular.
at the start there were hicups and stalls due to new players/tactics etc. But this was just so SAF could cut his teeth with his new squad and after some additions in the summer (DEFENDERS) next year looks really bright no matter what happens this season ..... however figers crossed on all fronts!!!

Doh.......My original post was 'tounge in cheek', wasn't that obvious?

To win the Premiership will be the biggest achievement for United this time as to come back from a dreadful start, having lost more games than the rest of the contenders and letting in the most goals compared to the rest to become champions. Lets be more optimistic and United should play all out for the rest of the remaining games. Do remember, winning all the rest of the 7 games will definitely land United the Championship iregardless of the results of the arSenile and liverFool.

Thank heavens ! No self respecting United fan would want Liverpool to win anything. Whatever the underperformance against Houllier's clowns and the other dodgy results this season, its time United sorted out the pseudo opposition and bring back the trophies THIS season never mind next.

don't you just love knowledgeable posts like this, you certainly know your stuff....

I don't care if we win nowt. What I do care about is Arsenal or Liverpool winning something. They'd be unbearable. So I don't mind not winning as long as they don't either - tho that's obviously not going to apply to the PL.

Then United will have to win both the PL and CL won't they ?
