Good on Sir Alex for defending his players. I especially like his defence of the Nevilles - as he points out they have nailed their colours to the mast.

In other words Gary and Phil are TRUE REDS! I don`t believe the Neville brothers are part of Sir Alex`s clear-out plans if he has any. He has spoken before in a different context (in the MU mag a couple of seasons ago) about players who `don`t have the hunger`.

I do not believe Sir Alex would ever accuse Gary and Phil of not having the hunger to play for and succeed with Manchester United. This is not blind loyalty - this is acknowldgement that when the going gets tough, players such as the Nevilles are likely to remain at Manchester United as they have never given less than full commitment to the club.

Sure they have made mistakes on the pitch but what player hasn`t? I would be surprised if the brothers are on his hitlist as for me they epitomise the Red Devil spirit. Undying. Loyal. Thoroughly committed to Manchester United.

Gary and Phil Neville are REDS!

I was born and bred a RED but I'm not good enough to pull on the sacred shirt.

Typical Liverpool and Arsenal fans as usual fudging the issue and not addressing the topic! Spelling it out here, the topic is that of the Nevilles who have been singled out by sections of the media and a few MU shareholders whose lives seem to revolve around scapegoating others.

I, for one, happen to love and respect a manager who suppports his players when they are subjected to unjust and downright spiteful attacks. Unlike Arsene, who demeans himself by the now wearisome and childish `I didn`t see it`, Sir Alex has been known to accept that at times genuine criticism of his team is warranted.

However, quite rightly he doesn`t accept the kinds of malicious attacks that have been coming from certain quarters. Unlike Houllier (whom I happen to like)who has been known to publicly air negative opinions of players that are best left unsaid or best left to private conversations.

They may be red, but if they ain't performing, it doesn't make a difference, get-rid. That goes for any of the players.
