Sarfraz Najeib has said his family will launchcivil action against Leeds United and Jonathon Woodgate and Lee Bowyer.

The pair were charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, and affray after Najeib was attacked in Leeds city centre on January 12 last year.

Following the subsequent trial Bowyer was cleared of all charges and Woodgate was found guilty of affray and sentenced to 100 hours community service.

But at a press conference in the city, the Najeib family's spokesman Suresh Grover said the 'quest for justice' would continue.

Former Leeds striker Tony Hackworth - cleared of assault during the first trial earlier this year - will also face action along with Bowyer and Woodgate, while the club is accused of failing to control its players properly and being involved in a 'cover-up'.

Grover said: "After the heartbreaking and illogical verdicts last Friday, the family has spoken to their lawyers and made what they consider to be an informed decision to proceed with taking civil action for damages."

Yes the Saga continues and I am sure it will go on for a long time.

The Najeib family are obviously trying to make the most out of this case and are dragging it on quite far.

This means Bowyer will almost certainly try to leave Leeds straight away. He will not want to stay where these difficulties are on his back.

Yes they, or rather their lawyers who sense a fat fee, are making the most out of this sorry saga. I just wish certain people would not suggest that, what is one of the best and fairest legal systems in the world is corrupt/biased call it what you will when certain verdicts don't go certain peoples way.
The only 12 people that know all the facts put someone in jail for 6 yrs and came to their verdicts on the others involved - to suggest anyone knows better than them is an insult. I hope the Najeibs get their blood money and enjoy it - then the rest of the world can get back to more important matters.

Definately. The Najeib Family are making a bigger deal of this than they should.

Najeib is out of hospital, the courth has decided and Bowyer and Woodgate have been punished - but now it is just getting ridiculous.

At first I was really against Bowyer but now I feel he is being made a scpaecoat. Najeib was not even seriously injured.

I feel sorry for Lee Bowyer and hope he can overcome it. The Najeibs should stop being babies and accept that their child was in a fight and payed the price.

Have you seen the Najeib Press Conferance & Bowyer's Solicitor on the Media Links marchingontogether?

Also what I think is unfair is how much press a young man like Bowyer is getting - it's a shame footballers will always be judged harder. :(

I am pleased to see some of your comments but not all. Safraz Najeib was most definately badly hurt in the attack by Clifford and it will have been a bad experience for his brother and parents but yes it is true he played a part in the nights events starting.
It is sadly the system we have now that people that are rich and famous will be sued and hopefully it can be over as quickly as possible.
I wonder if the next person chased through the streets and beaten up will have the media behind them to launch civil suits....somehow I doubt it!

Marchingontogether we all know there is no excuse for what Hackworth, Bowyer, Woodgate and Duberry (Who got of free after dropping the others in it) did but you must admit the Najeib Family are somewhat milking the event?

David Beckham was once caught speeding and the Media made a hugh fuss about him and being chased by the Paparazzi.

It is a shame now some people want a good story to sell papers so much that they would endanger someone career.

In my opinion it was just another fight outside nightclub that got out of hand - plenty of them happenned near me in London.

I just hope Bow is back doing what he is best at.....putting the ball in the back of the net

Yes. Peter Risdale will have talks with Bowyer, to ask him to pay the fine and get on with it, but O'Leary says Bowyer just walked past his office today.

They have been having meetings today and Bow and Woody could be on the bench on Saturday.
Here are some more quotes from DOL.....

"The ball is now in Lee's court," said O'Leary "After this he now knows the crowd don't want him to go.

"We also showed him what he will be missing if he decides he still wants to leave because we played some lovely football and that's the way I have tried to develop this team. He knows the way I want to play suits his game.

"I had a good meeting with him and he told me he doesn't want to leave and that he respects me a great deal.

"He told me straight out 'I don't want to leave here boss and I don't want to play for anybody else. I love this place and I love the fans' and now I think the fans have showed just how much they love him.

"So from everything he has seen and heard I hope he now has a change of heart. Everybody is wishing that he comes in and accepts the club's rules."

Come on Bow pay up, shut up and get playing!
