Wonder if Mexes will come?

With O'shea playing so well its hard to see us paying 10-15mil(I'd guess that kind of number) on another CB, especially with Brown also as an option.
But he is a classy player, money well spent IMO.

Understand what you are saying, BUT, it wouldn't hurt to have another potentially world class CB and also to stop him playing for Arsenal. Which is where he will probably go if he comes to England.

An insane reason to sign someone, i remember Everton did that in the 80's, signed some fella from the lower divisions mainly because Liverpool were after him. Cant remember his name SNodin i think?

hmmm...can't see how buying a striker would effect our needing or not needing a defender.

He's quoted as saying that United want to buy him, so I still think he's coming to OT if he comes to England. Otherwise, Roma have also been linked.

It's called a budget especially given the fact that mexes won't come cheap

Nah, he's only mentioned Utd

If it's any consolation to you, cisse will choose either you scousers or the arse if he decides to come to england - at least that's what I believe based on his quotes

<img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> So do you not think that we're rich enough to buy a Mexes and a striker. <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> ;)

It's nothing to do with our richness.

It has to do with the fact that the PLC is controlling the purse strings - let's not forget the 15 million we still have to pay for the 2nd installment of the Ferdinand fee

Not to mention SAF and PK's intention to sign BOTH escude and burdisso next summer

PLUS a striker, possibly a renowed one who would cost big bucks despite the depressed transfer market

I doubt we'll sign both of them. Probably Escude for sure, as well as a striker. Kenyon also said there would be no more signings in the summer and then we turned around and bought Ricardo, so both SAF and Kenyon are liable to change their minds.

True but Ricardo came for only 1.5 million pounds

I personally wouldn't be surprised if we signed a striker, both escude and burdisso and leave mexes out of the picture. After all, gary neville can also play centre half which I believe is his best position.

Means little. We're in the CL, and we're already one of (if not THE) richest clubs in the world. Going far into the CL and having a good year in the Prem will only mean more money available, irrespective of the Rio deal from last year.

Mexes said himself recently that it was an old link, and one which has been discontinued.

Means a lot because we are a PLC, not some rich tycoon's private club.

Hopefully u r right but you never know what the PLC has up their sleeves or rather how often they are going to get the checkbook out - let's see who's SAF really going after next summer...

I think Fergie has given up on Mexes. I still think he is th ebest young CB in the world, probably gonna be better than Rio.

However Fergie stated that O'Shea WILL be Rio's partner next year. We will probably go for Escude/Burdisso as another fullback plus as CB cover.

Rotating 4 defenders of different ages is possible. But 4 mega young and mega talented players? Impossible. Rio = candidate for best CB in world. Brown was my tip to be best CB in England til his injuries. O'Shea is now seen as next best thing, will soon be one of the best in England.

Mexes is tipped to be best in world.

Aint no way we can keep them lot happy. Unless we switch to 3 at the back.....3-5-2 anyone?

GK
O'Shea Mexes Rio
Beckham Keane Veron Giggs
Scholes
Ole Ruud

naaaaah......

Samuel-Mexes would turn out the best pairing anywhere.
