I'm looking for some advice from the hardcore XBox users on here if poss. I'm shit at tech stuff so any help would be great.

I've just been given a used PC with this Linksys wirelessN adaptor http://tinyurl.com/7p527z & I was thinking of getting this Linksys wirelessN router http://tinyurl.com/98w2fu so I can use it upstairs. I've just got my lad a 360 & he obviously wants live NOW! I was going to get the XBox wireless adaptor, but the guy in Game said they don't always work & suggested some DLink ethernet adaptor set?

Anyone got any experience with wireless XBox adaptor and/or DLink? What's the best option & is there a big price diff?

Cheers:wenger:

Cheers Weaste.

I was hoping there might be someone who's using a wireless-n router with Dlink, XBox or wireless-n bridge to see what works best. I've been reading loads of tech forums, but there seem to be a lot of conflicting opinions. I guess if I just stick to Linksys wireless-n for everything, in theory it should give the best performance...anyone?

No idea what you just said, but I use a wireless router and wireless XBOX adaptor and it works a peach. Wireless controller as well, now if only someone would invent a wireless power supply...

Maybe I'm over complicating things as I don't really know what I'm doing.

DLink sends signals via 2 adaptors via plug sockets, through power lines & ethernet cable to back of XBox (instead of completely wireless from the router) & is supposed to be quicker & avoid dead spots...seems a bit expensive though.

Wireless-n is supposed to be quicker than wireless-g & avoids dead spots by bouncing multiple signals off each other. Some people seem to have problems with it & reckon the techs not proper sorted yet, but most reckon as long as I stick to draft 802.11n I should be OK.

Guess I'll try the wireless-n route & keep my fingers crossed - cheers anyway.

Got a fair few, but not all at home with me, not got GOW2 yet, skint.

At home got WaW, Fifa, GRID, TW09, and just bought Fallout 3 and the new Bond one.

Not had chance to play owt in the last 2 weeks though, as my brothers 360 needs the update, which I can't do till he buys a wireless adapter, if I had of known before I came home we were switching I'd of brought mine with me.

I hope to be on sometime in the next few days...

You better have GeoW2 then:D

No, no I don't, although I may be able to lend it off a mate for a week while I'm home..

not really otherwise i wouldnt have bought it

How much did it cost you?

Sorry, but you buy things like Rockband instruments for silly money. A simple wireless adapter should not have the cost it has. Simple, especially when you can buy a wirless bridge for 20 quid. It's called a rip off, the same with the HDDs. I still cannot comprehend why you XBox people still put up with these pricing and failure issues and still go along with it as if it's all good and win.

I think it is £59.99 for an official wireless adaptor from Microsoft, which is a fecking rip-off. Thankfully my router is close to the 360 so I just use ethernet.

PS3 has built in Wi-Fi Weaste, did you know that? Don't lie either.

Gaming over wireless is pants, get yourself a "Powerline" product and use a cable.

I connect my box up to the laptop which has wireless connection and go online that way.
