According to BBC City are on the verge of signing him from Malaga. It'll be a bloody great signing if it happens and I'd expect him to be number 1 within a few months. He's been incredible for Malaga for the past couple of seasons and seems to raise him game for the bigger teams.

Surprised no-one else has went for him though. What does the caf think? Roaring success or a meer backup to Joe Hart?

For £6m, it'd be rude not to buy him.

It's supposedly rising to 10 million isn't it? Bit much if he's only going to be backup

Hart's needed proper competition for a while now, he's become too cocky and believes he's better than he is. I still think he'll remain no. 1, so if this signing produces better performances from Hart is it a good signing.

£10 million isn't overly expensive for a top quality goalkeeper even if he isn't definitely going to start.

He's in a similar situation to Keylor Navas in that if he had been playing for one of the top two, he would be being heralded as one of the best around, in my opinion.

Hart is a bit gash, I think he'd displace him.

First Demichelis and now this guy. What's next, Isco?

Can they afford to replace Hart as number one? He'd maybe take the huff and want away, and when you consider how few players in their squad are home grown.

On a serious note though, I find it surprising, its a lot of money to spend on a back up keeper, especially one who is gonna be 33 in September! Why not just keep Pantillimon?

That's actually a very good point, hadn't considered that at all. Based purely on talent I'd have Caballero as number one but it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the premier league.

I'm still mystified how he wasn't Argentina's starting goalkeeper at the World Cup, let alone part of the squad. If Hart struggles to hold down a starting berth against Pantilimon, I can't see this move going well for the Englishman. Caballero is a terrific keeper.

Fantastic goal keeper and especially at the price reported, represents fantastic value. I'm surprised that no other clubs from the mid-table are looking at him to be their 1st choice keeper.

He's better than Hart. Won't displace him. Good move for him. Sit on the bench, get a big paycheck finally and perhaps win some trophies.

Why he isn't Argentina's number one I don't know.

i think in the past 3 seasons he's been the best goalkeeper of la liga. it's bordering on a crime that he hasn't even been selected to the NT, yet an utter donkey like Romero has started two world cups. It's a solid pick up for City, and still a bargain at 10m.

Great signing. He is an excellent goalkeeper. This will either force hart to raise his level or caballero will simply take his place. Its a win-win situation for city.

The press are going to have a field day with this signing:

Manuel Replaces Hart with Willy
Willy Spunk's City's Chances
Willy Flops On Big Stage
Willy Rodgers Liverpool
Willy Fumbles In Box

And well, if Rod Fanni goes to Newcastle, God help us:

Willy Keeps Fanni At Bay
Willy Spits On Fanni
Willy Injures Fanni

I'll stop now

He's better than Hart. Wouldn't be surprised if City spend most games next season without an English player.
