Will Wigan RLFC be relegated

4 points adrift at the bottom of the league the former dominant force in rugby league are seriously struggling this year, the possibility of relegation has led to rumours of the RFL 'doing a deal' which would mean an extra team would be added to the league rather than Wigan being relegated, others have suggested that Dave Whelan has been trying to negotiate with potential promoted team to pay them to refuse entry to Super League so that Wigan can stay up (something Whelan has denied and the RFL have said won't be tolerated).

Given the fact that Wigan have signed a couple of big name and expensive Aussie players for next season it seems they are confident of not being relegated, so do you think the RFL would allow them to be relegated?

What are the implications if a deal is done? Surely other clubs would demand the same treatment if threatened with relegation

I've not heard these rumours you mention but I can't see the RFL giving special treatment to Wigan.

Would be a laugh to see them go down....shame they got a win against the Catalans.

apparently it's bit just the RFL but other clubs want it to happen as well becuase playing Wigan is a big pay day in terms of gate receipts, losing Wigan from Super League would mean other clubs losing money.

Kind of makes a mockery of the whole league if they finish in a relegation position and don't end up going down.

You may call me cynical but I'm waiting for the dodgy referee decisions and maybe a couple of teams making schoolbiy errors to hand Wigan the points they need to stay up.

League is gay! why bother

Thank you for your well thought out contribution, it may take me some time to draft a response as you raise so many important important points, but I will get back to you in due course

and now fielden for £450k (a world record in rugby league).

Something smells fishy to me.

They could make the play off's, and if they then went on to win the Grand Final will they all still say that the play off system is great when a team thats been bottom of the table for over half the seson wins the title?

I hope they go down, they've been beating the feck out of us for the past 29+ years.
