Has Veron recovered from his flu. I think he could be crucial against the Gunners as they play a European style, which Veron thrives upon

So you are sating if Keano and Becks were fit they should not play

Fortune has played excellently over the last two games, i think he has earned a start. If after 20 minutes he's not doing the business then we can put Veron on, but to drop forune now would be a real kick in the teeth to the guy.
I disagree that Arsenal play a european style, Arsenal play with a quickness rarely seen in europe. The whole reason Veron has done better in europe is because the game is played a bit slower, giving him time and space to take control and think about what he's doing, you take that time away from him and his game falls apart completely.
IMO It would be nothing short of disasterous for Veron to try to take on Arsenal in the middle of the park. Scholes and Fortune might not be good enough but they would definitely have a better chance than with veron in the middle...

i agree with you. especially about arsenal not playing a european style, but a premiership style like they're on steroids.

The team in the last three games has played with more spirit, committment, verve and just about everything else when compared to the previous performances this season. So why change the team ? If by chance Rio, Becks & Keane are fit, and I doubt all three will be, then stick them on the bench together with Veron. None of the current team deserves to be dropped and it won't do much for morale if the returnees are automatically reinstated. Fergie needs to give the team the ultimate vote of confidence by not changing it.

Agree with what you said above. For me, Fortune has to start. We have to have a holding midfield player. Somebody has to put the tackles in and Fortune's our best chance, plus he's earned another start. And IMO, Scholesy has to be played in central midfield. We're going to lose/dilute too much of his special qualities if we play him out of position.
So, that means you'd have to play Seba out on the right and drop Ole or Diego. Ole's been doing brilliantly out on the right and, well, we all know what Diego's done the past week. I don't see how can you justify dropping either of them. But also, I think after the performance on Sunday, that eleven deserves another start.

Yes, if they hadnt played any games before the arsenal game.

Solskjaer Van Nistelrooy

That means the much maligned Forlan, who's now scoring goals, playing with a lot of confidence and appearing to be a good foil for Ruud, sits on the bench to make way for JSV. Also Scholes appears to be revelling in the role of midfield generalissimo, so you don't want to upset that. No, I would put JSV on the bench and let him come on later if necessary.

cant see what seba has over ole as a RW myself. that leaves a place alongside ruud, and if diego hasnt earned it now i'd pull off me eyelids if i was him.

As for the suggestion that dropping Fortune would be less damaging to him than subbing him after 20 (twenty - I still can't believe that was the figure!) minutes, that's the most laughable pile of shite I've read in a long time.

My statement was he could be subbed after 20 minutes if he wasnt doing the business, in other words, if he is completely out of the game and we are really struggling we could gamble on Veron. If thats the most laughable pile of shit you have read in a long time you are obviously easily amuzed...

we cant play Keane at all until he is fully fit, but maybe having him somewhere in the stands will be great for getting the crowd behind the team

Guardian reports that Fortune is injured in training - so looks like Veron will play today

Expensive splinters indeed; will there be room on the bench for the sundry physios, beecham powders, agents, different colour boot polish, biog. ghost writers and bruised egos?
