Will there ever be an immersive Game of Thrones game?

It's tough I think. It's all about money these days and an epic GoT game would cost huge and yet what genre would it be in to sell well? RPG/action adventure and you are up against the likes of Skyrim and fable.

It'd be nice to get a war game about the pre-GoT world, like telling the story of how Ned and Robert won the war.

I think that Telltale is making a GoT game. The gameplay obviously will suck, but Telltale is the best when it comes to telling stories. An epic game (Dragon Age: Origins like) would be amazing and there are so many ways to go (Robert's rebellion etc), events that have happened years (centuries) before the main story. I guess the Telltale game will be for a random person/knight struggling in the war.

Personally would be very interested to see other Fantasy universes (Kingkiller, Mistborn etc) get expended, be it as movies, TV shows or video games.

I think it would be an excellent strategy game, but with a story element which would possibly be a little harder to implement into the game, maybe a little like Battle for Middle Earth when you get a hero once you hit your objectives. I actually have a game on Steam called Folk Tale which is a strategy/RPG where you can build your city and play it from 'god view' but then play as one character, and the idea is actually quite neat.

I've always felt the perfect game to me would be something like Total War but when the battles came you could take control of one character and be part of it. You could switch back and forth from 'god view' to make tactics but when on the battlefield you could also command them. I can dream.

How many "epic huge scale" games are there? Not many; most suck, most are subscription based and most dont last very long.

Lord of the Rings deserves more real-time strategy games, as BFME 1+2 were visually and cinematically groundbreaking.
Wheel of Time deserves a role playing game of sorts, it has one of the most sophisticated and excellent magic systems around.
Game of Thrones could have more story based games, like uncharted if you will. I don't really believe a RPG would work fantastically.

No Spoilers on Anything Innit

Hopefully there will be. If done well it could be brilliant. I rarely play games now, but if they did this and executed it well I'd buy it right away. This would be the perfect time to cash in as well - you'd get people like me who don't play too many games now going out and buying it since it's got massive appeal.

A combination of two of my most favourite things ever.

It needs to be a RPG where every action has a reaction. That's the only way a GoT RPG would 'work', think Deus Ex on a larger scale. I don't think being a Lord would work well unless you merged some of the combat elements from a game like Mount and Blade. I'd prefer to be an "every man" in the World, watching the Lords duke it out and pick a side. You might then be bought out and betray the side you've aligned yourself with, become a double agent. That type of game would be excellent fun to play as you could really shape your characters story. Rise up to be a knight in Kings Landing, or be an advisor to Rob Stark, an assassin, a mercenary, a Crow. Then open up the storyline even more by adding in the possibility to become a Wildling.

The problem with all of this is that by making the game infinitely replayable, you're giving the gamer 30/40 games in 1. Developers don't really like doing that as they see it as a waste of potential money.

I remember reading somewhere that Telltale was planning to make one. No idea if true or not. Would be amazing if they did though!

Thing is, great games take years to develop and a lot of people only found out about GOT in 2011, so even if we get a GOT game we might have to wait a few more years. The other issue is the licensing, something this popular would cost a lot, so most of the developers will avoid it and we just developers who pay for the rights and spend as little as time as possible on the development so they can make their money back.

TellTale made The Walking Dead far more epic, and far better than its TV counterpart. Similarly The Wolf Among Us has been brilliant too. I'm confident they'll do GoT justice as well. I don't think I'd ever like to see a game based on the books/show themselves because it just wouldn't work.

Although I'm sure we're going to start seeing more dark, fantasy games "inspired" by it.

Has anyone played TOTAL WAR: Game Of Thrones, some Modded the Alexander one I think it was , not a bad game at all, doesn't stand up to the LOTR one, but not bad.

TellTale don't really make games, they're more interactive movies. I'm a huge fan of TellTale and very intrigued to see where they take Game of Thrones. But I don't ever really consider them games, the gameplay just isn't there. It's not even like they're old school adventure games because there aren't any puzzles. It's more about making decisions and living with the consequences.

A prequel to Robert's Rebellion or the last time the White Walkers invaded would be terrific.

Yep. And as I said they also then have to spend a fortune developing it and going head to head with the leaders of the genre they aim for.

It's not as easy as having a good base to start with.

Some kind of Total War type game set in the GoT world, but not necessarily following the books. You would choose some minor House and through war , trade and politics try to build youself up into a major house, or you could aslo be a city/state on Esso and try to take control there. The major houses of GoT, major factions, would be controlled by the game system, as you progress you may allign your house with them or get big enough to take them on or draw their ire and get smashed.

Not sure how to fit the Wall, the Wildlings and the others into the game.

It would probably suck though.

Barbarians/Mongol invasion perhaps.
