There is reason to believe, too, that Salah will be able to stave off the kind of decline typically seen in players around his age and extend his prime longer than most. This is because, compared to many of his superstar peers, he was a relatively late bloomer. He was not – like, say, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo or Neymar – playing 50-plus elite-level games per season by his late teens.

Salah first moved to Europe at age 20 when he signed for Swiss side FC Basel. He then had an unsuccessful spell with Chelsea. It wasn’t until he joined Roma in 2015, at age 23, that he first played more than 1,500 minutes within a single season in a top European league. The reduced wear and tear of a lower early career workload should aid his longevity.

The man doesn't drink, he's in great shape, and he has the wonders of modern sport medicine to lean on. I think he's got another 2 seasons of peak form ahead of him after this one.

He won't leave. Liverpool know this so they will continue to low-ball him on renewal terms as it seems to be causing him to play out of his skin (even by his high standards) in the hope of pressuring the club to give him a bit more cash - they'll eventually chunk him an extra fiver a week and the renewal will be done. He's going nowhere.

I'd argue 4. He rarely gets injured. Lives very health and is in great shape. Assuming he quits international ball in a year or 2. He will last longer than most have at such a level.

He will sign a 4 year deal worth 400k a week. Then he will decline very quickly and Liverpool will probably sell him, in a couple of years, to a team from Saudi for a decent amount. Both parties happy.

What he should do? Say; "give me any contract and i will sign"?
He is just trying to get bigger contract. And he will get it. 400k on 3 years or something. Only matter of days.

Loving your fanfic vignettes. Do you have a tumblr I can follow?

I personally hope he signs a long term contact and then falls off a cliff because of his age.

You can't ignore how well run Liverpool are at the moment. If Salah was a United player then we would have given him a 10 year contract on 300k a week.

He's been very good and it would be the best, for both him and Liverpool, if he could stay a few more seasons performing at this level. I'm not sure how much of a raise he wants but it also depends on how much money he's been offered elsewhere.

Must admit I thought he was in decline towards the end of last season but nope, he's been brilliant this season.

No way are they letting him leave on a free. There'd be riots in the streets of Liverpool* if that happened. It's all just posturing.

*more than normal

Vini —— Mbappe —— Salah

With Trent to feed them. Also surprised Barcelona aren’t pulled all their levers to make it happen. Bull crap sources just released Salah to Bayern and I thought about that before I googled it. Who are they putting on RW?
