giggsy is just so frustrating to watch.
he can still turn on the brilliance, but sadly not often enough to justify an automatic first-team place.
don't know if SAF tactics have something to do with it. He's clearly lost some pace - as happens to ALL players with age. He doesn't seem to have the confidence to try to beat opponents on the outside. but worst of all, he keeps coming inside, and leaves his wing-position. he's really much easier to mark there. with silvestre/o'shea tracking behind or overlapping, it should free him to display his skills, but he seems unable, unwilling, or against tactics to do so. such a shame.
I agree that it would be folly to sell him (unless he really wants to try Euro footy, which might be a better pace for him). but i think we've got other players/combinations that merit inclusion before him now.
He's never been the best crosser of the ball (most everyone agrees that Lee Sharp was a better crosser of the ball from the laft wing than Giggsy), but what his pace did was to create panic in opposing defences, so even if he didn't put clean balls in, there were planty to pick up the rebounbds - eg scholsey, cole. he doesn't give us that element any more.
Will he be the first of the super youth team to leave OT ??? he was the first in the team, so perhaps he'll be the first to leave - after 450+ appearances, which I think puts him in top ten of all time (but I'm sure some statto can give the details on that).
If we can play like we did yesterday against Brum, then we can win anything - with or without giggs.
