I'm a Giggs fan...and have been since i 1st saw him play...he has great talent. But after 99 his form has dropped gradually. NOw you can only see his magic occasionally..... Does anyone think this fella who tears defends apart will ever get back to his best..? :( <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

hate to say it but i am also concerned... I am more excited now when i see oshea or silvestre going up the flank..

hopefully he starts to show the old giggs.

Welcome by the way...

Yeah I agree with you...
Inter are preparing a bid over 20 million for him over the summer, or maybe a part-exchange...
I am a big fan of his, but he getting a bit old now (29 or 30 I think) and wonder if it is time for him to move on....
Duff would be an ideal replacement,
can Ronaldinho play ML?
It will be very intersting how SAF handles the Giggs situation over the next 6 months or so...

Well... Ronaldinho can certainly play any attacking positions... LW,RW or just behind the strikers or as a striker himself...If SAF does get Ronaldinho i think Giggs's position would the one most under threat...If he doesn't buck up soon, i doubt we'll be seeing much of him in the future...and that would be sad...

PS: THNx for Classyred

hey i dont think its all beyond giggs he maybe just needs a bit of pressure hence the reason for utility player....shame about fortune

lets not start writing him off completely form is temparory, class is ....

I do wonder about this paz dude...

Giggs will be back...He is a class player.
What he needs is rest atleast for a week or two
to take his mind away from football ,recharge his
batteries ...I personally think SAF is not doing
any favour to him by keeping him as sub. What he
needs is a week break?

I dont know if any of u watch Premiership years on sky sports, but it is sad to see the difference between then and now. hopefully he'll come back

yeah i totally agree with the point thats the threat of losing first team place might charge up giggs. i am a huge giggsy fan, but his performance lately has been bits and pieces, thats not what we expect. just look at what the same threat has done to beckham( birmingham game), he is all set to keep ole away from the right wing. Giggs going to Inter is not a possibilty, why would they want a Cup-tied player. and if the transfer is planned for the summer i think Sir Alex wont be interested in letting his scouting masterstroke go.

Couldnt agree more. No one can question his ability, but theres been times recently when Ive questioned his desire.

When are people going to realise. The Ryan Giggs playing now is a different player from the Ryan Giggs of the mid to late 90's/ He doesn't have the electric pace that he had a few years ago. Injuries and age take their toll.
Just because he is a different player doesn't mean he is no use to us. He still has great skills and still has the ability to cause problems for the opposition. He is performing a different role for us now. The role that he now plays is still vital to us. He has an excellent touch and can make devastating runs into the box, a la Middlesborough last week.
If you expecting to see Giggsy the way he was a few years ago then you will be disappointed but i'd rather have any Ryan Giggs in our line up than anybody elses

We'll take him on LFC if yer don't mind.

He can cause problems admittedly - but then does nowt constructive with it. For example, he beats 3/4 defenders and then delivers a shitty cross.

And I despair everytime he is faced with any kind of scoring chance, because there seems to be some kind of mental block when it comes to shooting.

He deserved the drop. IMO, he doesn't need a break, he needs to get his finger out of his arse and regain his focus and he has needed to for a long time.

TBH, i think he's lost a bit of pace..

i reckon we should strengthen the left and right wing in the summer.

joaquin + vicente would be good additions to the squad IMO.

giggsy is just so frustrating to watch.
he can still turn on the brilliance, but sadly not often enough to justify an automatic first-team place.
don't know if SAF tactics have something to do with it. He's clearly lost some pace - as happens to ALL players with age. He doesn't seem to have the confidence to try to beat opponents on the outside. but worst of all, he keeps coming inside, and leaves his wing-position. he's really much easier to mark there. with silvestre/o'shea tracking behind or overlapping, it should free him to display his skills, but he seems unable, unwilling, or against tactics to do so. such a shame.
I agree that it would be folly to sell him (unless he really wants to try Euro footy, which might be a better pace for him). but i think we've got other players/combinations that merit inclusion before him now.
He's never been the best crosser of the ball (most everyone agrees that Lee Sharp was a better crosser of the ball from the laft wing than Giggsy), but what his pace did was to create panic in opposing defences, so even if he didn't put clean balls in, there were planty to pick up the rebounbds - eg scholsey, cole. he doesn't give us that element any more.
Will he be the first of the super youth team to leave OT ??? he was the first in the team, so perhaps he'll be the first to leave - after 450+ appearances, which I think puts him in top ten of all time (but I'm sure some statto can give the details on that).
If we can play like we did yesterday against Brum, then we can win anything - with or without giggs.

it really makes me sad how U people are slamming
Giggs without looking at the contribution he has
made and lot of U experts analyzing he has lost pace ..he crosses are shit ,he cant beat defenders ..he is finished ....all crap .This can happen to any player. There are lot of big clubs around the world are still banking on 30 year olds..If we leave Giggs today inter are willing to get him for a high price.Cuper is not a idiot to propose such an offer if Giggs is spent force which is the general view among u experts.
Giggs is a class player.Ok he is not in form..
Back him.Dont write him off..

Giggs is still as good & as dangerous any any left sided player in the UK. True he doesn't have quite the pace he once did but what you don't see on the telly is how a player with his experience and reputation moves and distracts defenders off the ball. He makes room for the strikers!

As for his crosses . . . they are no worse now than before; The difference is that we don't have the players to latch on to them they way we once did. We all agree that RVN & Ole need one more striker to give them a break and defences another threat. And we've always been short a really competant striker who can make the most of Giigs & Becks ability to either get behind defenders or whip in lethal crosses. Where's king Denis when you need him? ;) Have many goals have we scorned from corners btw. Have you noticed how many "shortt" corners we've been taking lately . . .even by Beckham?

Indeed, Vijay, I agree... Every player needs a little breather here and there to, as you say, recharge one's batteries.

why do u guys keep on writing about negative things ? so giggs is suffering a dip in form alot of players have and have come back better than before so im gonna stick by that.

Giggsy still has what it takes....in my view, it would take no more than a few games break to see him roaring into the European defences from February thorugh May.

The issue is, it don't matter a damn what I think. The question is whether Fergie has either lost a little patience, or wants to make a point by jettisoning one of the golden boys.

I don't think we have the depth in the squad for such a grand gesture in mid-season, and that Giggs will come again.

I think SAF should give him a break. Sometimes that's good for players when they are not playing well.
Let's be patience and have some faith in him!!!

Even if Fergie contemplates selling Giggs I would like to see someone come in first and see if we get a reaction from Giggs. If we do not and the replacement does give us width, pace and crossing ability then maybe it is time for Ryan to go. People are too precious about the lad and constantly refer to the past. I think his general lacklustre performances over the last 2 year period have been enough time for him to prove us all wrong. How long are you meant to wait for him to get his act together. Every other player in the team seems to have had reaction after the derby defeat and shown some form and mettle. Giggs cannot be included there. As a senior player this really isn't good enough.

Giggs has had a lot of lacklustre performances it's true. But sprinkled amongst those have been some excellent ones as well, so he hasn't lost it. We need quality cover in that position, because it's one position on the park where there is virtually no competition at all.

Ole doing so well on the right has done wonders for Becks!
