Why not a loan deal?

Just thinking, we are all going on about how buying this striker or that striker will stop us from signing anyone in the summer who may be a better option, we not just at least sign a striker for the short term just in case, theres no point in being caught with our pants down if RVN gets an injury. Im sure it cant be hard to find someone willing to loan us a striker, ever other club is doing it!

Urina Extracata FC in Italy are keen to off load a couple of strikers to cut their wage bill so I've heard.

Why don't we try and get Morientes on loan from Real
Just for use in the Premiership
Spurs almost signed him on loan, so why don't we try

Its a fair point, if Cisse can only be bought in the summer we should try and loan a striker until then. We could loan Lopez surely?

I don´t think thats a good idea. A loan deal would bring us some striker who isn´t taken seariously on his club and wants to move out. That means he´s not playing constantly (like Morientes) and then, he´s not fit enough to take that big challenge (Replace Ruud). Plus, I don´t think big clubs like Lazio would like the idea of loaning their star players like Lopez. The only way they give away the player is with a serious big fat sell and not only a loan, specially with their economic problems (like they did with Nesta or Crespo). I think we should buy a young, cheap and good striker like we did with Forlan, Fergie knows how to turn them into big stars. Maybe Cisse, or some good south-american striker like Diego Milito, Fernando Cavenaghi or any Brazilian kid.

Batistuta would be a fine short term measure - Lord knows we took Blanc at the end of his natural football life.

We can't expect to be getting big names to come here on loan.

I suggest someone like Clint Mathis. Yes he's American but Brian McBride seems to be working out well for Everton so you never know. IMO he has a lot of potential and would be a good 4th option striker to come here on loan.

I totally agree...We should have got someone experienced like Batistuta...
A loan deal would have been excellent...
Could have 'nicked one of the Lazio or Juve strikers... ;)

Its only worth getting a player in on loan if he is:

1) Better than what we already have.
2) Not cup-tied in europe.

I can't think of any available strikers who fit this criteria. Certainly not Clint Mathis!.

My grandad never had purple hair but he played for Wales in Goal (and the arse) he could help Arsenal in thier goalkeeping dilemma.

He also played for Cardiff City and said given the choice he'd join them and lend a hand to their promotion push

My Grandad has responded and the latest from arsebandit wanger is he has just signed an 8 year contract to take him to 85 when Les Sealey has been touted as the keeper to replace him ! :)

I thought we already had a loan striker in Ruud. ;)
