Not every scottish teenager would want to leave home at 15 just to play for Manchester United.

I totally agree, bringing Stewart and Fletcher was a very position thing. But some kids would just like to stay home. fair enough.

We have a young defence, which probably didn't help in trying to get the 18 year old.

A big factor in getting the talent must be the level of younghsters already competing at the club and the difficulty in breaking into the first team, the danger of getting stuck in reserve team football where they would have first team somewhere else.

But signing players young is definately the way to go economically and to maintain continuty and team spirit. SAF said at the end of last season that he wanted to revive our youth system- so we brought in new coaches and are building partnerships with other academies like Sporting and Nantes.
