Just wondering as I have seen plenty of people shot down in flames for asking yet you see others swanning around the forms with shiny new names for all the word to see?

It is a confusing set up

If you make a thread, you usually don't get your way. If you pm a mod they should do it for you.

It's best to operate under the assumption that we won't change any users names.

Makes it easier for posters to understand how we feel about name-change requests.

Only in extreme circumstances will we do name changes. We consider each case on an individual basis, but it should be kept in mind that our blanket policy is no name changes.

personally im against name changes as you lose track of who is who

It was Biscuit's new adapted name that brought it to my attention, although there has been others that have sprung up from time to time.

Biscuit has been forever tarred imo.

I dont know who, or why Biscuits name was shortened, seemingly just for asthetics. It goes against the grain of what we've always said. Seems someone had a 'soft' moment

I've always found a slight edit of a username is done more than a fresh name. I was formerly big-red100, now I am Big-Red. Simples.

Theres only one poster ive seen thats had a complete name change. Mr.chutney, and he got that done in the newb. Dunno how he swung for that.

The rest are just slight variations of the original name, i wouldnt go as far as saying its a complete name change. Hope this helps :)

Why does it matter? Why do you care? Why do you feel you're entitled to know?

It matters as plenty of people have asked for name changes and not had them yet it appears recently a number have been granted them.

Should be one rule for everyone.

I don't really care as it doesn't concern me, just think it stinks of bureaucracy

Corruption, I have begged for one many of times and told no-one gets a chance to change name yet like OP has mentioned some users have fancy new names.

Favouritism.

No.

We occasionally change a username but only for a very good reason and there are very few good reasons. Choosing an incredibly stupid username isn't a good one.

Nearly as stupid as accusing the admins of corruption.

It's not really down to inconsistency on the part of the mods or anythng. The general feeling has been that we shouldn't allow name changes on a whim, but if I've been PMd, I've usually complied because basically, I'm soft, and there wasn't a definite policy about it.

I think that policy does now exist though.
