Its getting a tad frustrating being a red fanand now it seems like Arsenal and Liverpool have taken over our Mantle.
With the amount of cash our clud generates why arent we able to purchase the Zidanes and the ronalos of the world. We have got some class in Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, Ferdinand and Nistellroy but what has happened to our squad.
My theory on why Ferguson stayed on is that he saw that the team was perhaps starting to fall away and he was scared about leaving the club ala cloughie (without the relegation) We need to buy some class the youth are good but all they are is backup in case of injuries. We need to spend some cash or else we will be trophless again this year and anyone who thinks that we will win the Champions League is a muppet. I say buy Dicanio for Europe we need more passion and there isnt a better player in Britain except Keane who can inspire a team.

Why arent we the New Real Madrid Thats easy...Ill try and explane it simple to you. So here goes. We, as in us, are like in Manchester, and thats how we sought of got our name. And they are in Madrid, which is in another country like.
We could however change our name to Real Manchester!. But i dont think that would go down to well in here.

i almost agreed with you entirely until you said "a real defense".. man, you probably have never ever seen their defensive team at all have you?

their first team defenders consist of Hierro (34), Makelele - not even a proper defender, R.Carlos - who's always up in the attack. There's one more guy on the right side, i don't remember his name because he is absolute crap.

Their substitutes? 4 unknowns spanish youngsters who are all no better than p.neville

Real strenght may not rely in their defense and their formation is DIFFERENT from ours.

Makalele is a world class defensive midfielder cum defender. There are loads of ppl like him ( Di Biaggo) And it wont be an evil idea to try Keano in the defense.

Salgado or Solari are better than G Nev, Hierro better than sad old Blanc and R Carlos better than Silvestre.

i guess that's why they're lying 5th in their league table just like us, and barely scraped through to the second phase of the CL right?

i know they will show their class later on in the CL phase, but it's purely because of their superstars in the attacking front. their defence is no better than us - we have lost even less goals than Real this season.

Hierro is past it, probably as much as Blanc is. the only thing he does that is still commendable is his ability to inspire the team. They have a very very uncordinated defence with both carlos always looking to break through into attack and makelele is not even a natural CH - how is that better than Rio? or even Blanc?. they have a fearsome formation of the attacking game - but their defence, i insist, is no good.

that still doesn't cover up the fact that their defense is shit. FYI, actually Madrid did play with similar formation as ours. They play with one striker (Guti/Morientes) with Raul as the player in the 'hole'

Are you kidding? I rate them just the same. Gary is even better defensively. Salgado is only good in going forward, but is too lazy to cover back the defence. And this also comes from a Madrid fan.
Solari played on the left wing or left back if I'm not mistaken.

Makalele don't play as a defender,it's Helguera in defence. Their current defence line-up is Carlos-Hierro-Helguera-Salgado.
Helguera is a great DM, but sadly as a CD he's not very good.
 
Real strenght relies on the fact that no player is irreplacable and reputation do not guarantee the love of the fans ( which at OT is taken for granted)

Look at the treatment given to Ronaldo

Real demands results and not words. If a player plays crap he is first battered by the fans and than sold or replaced by the club. They pay well and demand the best.

Real mentality relies on the fans. The fans knows that they are the driving power for their club, they pay the money for the players and expect the BEST.

Manutd fans (me included) are so STUPID that think that by sticking to a lazy or a non talented player shows their loyalty. That is why Real have won 10 times more trophies than Manutd.

At Real the supporters and not the players lead the club. No player would have even thought of insulting the fans ( like Keane did), because the fans DEMAND RESPECT.

We have the power of our club, if we dont buy the shirts or stop going to OT than the club will be in panick. We talk about lack of battling spirit but what we didnt said is that WE HAVE SPOILED THE CLUB too.

agree with all you said, esp that you're a madrid fan. either makelele or helguera, they both suck.. real are nothing in the defence.. they lost friggin 8 goals in 4 of the last CL matches if i'm not mistaken. i don't call that good - let alone 'real defense'.

i'm not arguing with any of this! the point is in what you said about their defense, it's crap! that's it! no need to go around the world man.. i'm seriously not arguing about 'the treatment of ronaldo' or 'expectations of the fans'

i have agreed with all this - what i didn't agree was what you said about their defense.. just admit you're wrong and finish it off.

I agree with RUnited,, and I've said this many times on this forum before, and I'll say it again. Real Madrid's defence is terrible.
 
The results show who have the best defense. (Helguera, R Carlos and Hierro sounds stronger than our current defense though.)

Real tactics exploit to the full their strengths. The players know wat is expected from them.

Sorry, but I'm not a Madrid fan :) . What I mean is that some of the things I wrote also comes
from a friend who's a Madrid fan. I enjoyed watching them though, they are an awesome attacking force.
I think Makalele is quite good, a ball winning MF with some skill from what I saw. But then again I heard stories about Madrid wanted to offload him somewhere.

Well yes this is my first post and why the hell shouldnt I say that we are not playing as well as we should be as we are "The Richest Club in THE WORLD". There is far too much dead wood Blanc is good but not good enough same as Phil neville hes a classic spurs holding player and not good enough for us. Forlan should be loaned out for a while so he can get used to our game. Van the man is the best striker in the world when on form but on Sunday all he was doing was diving and Solskjaer is great for backup. As I said before Buy Di Canio for the remainder of the season. Ferdinand was an excellent buy for us but we need a new striker ala andy cole so heres one how about Kevin Phillips who will fit in like he was a born again denis law.
