Why aren't United and other clubs releasing fan replica shirts?

You see it with certain countries like the Spanish, German, Argentinian and Italian national teams when they release fan replica kits which are lower cost - around 30 or 40 quid I think?

It would go someway to curbing the massive amounts of money they must be losing to the dodgy kit brigade, whose main pulling point must surely be cost.

Why havent they think of that?

My argument is that they have analyzed the number and the current price is the most profit optimizing

Seling 1000 kits at 90 dollars say... Might be more profitable than selling 3000 at 40

Not sure how much they’re losing to dodgy kits. It’s similar to film piracy, every pirated download doesn’t equal a lost cinema ticket, as much as Hollywood wants to convince everyone it does. If I can’t buy knock-off shirt from DHgate then I simply won’t buy a shirt at all.

The manufactures must think it's not commercially sensible to do that and that they can sell more by pricing at £80+.

Personally wouldn't pay that, but I guess lots of people do.

There are two tiers of official shirts at Chelsea.

They're not "cheap or expensive" though, they are £85 or £125.

I'd actually be happy with the above pricing if they also made the kids shirts £10.
