From this mornings NOTW.

MAN UNITED are guaranteed to stuff someone away from home this Christmas.

The trouble is, it's YOU.

As thousands of parents shell out £40 a time for the team's blue away strip—dubbed their Champions League kit—for their kids, we can reveal that you've been fouled in the shopping area.

And, as usual at Old Trafford, the ref won't give the penalty.

For the greedy Premiership club is CHANGING the strip—only introduced this summer—to an all-black outfit before the start of next season.

And forget compensation. There's nothing you can do about it.

A club source told us: "Most Man United executives know it will be seen as outrageous, but that is the nature of football these days. Strips are a huge money-spinner, but at the end of the day it is the fans and the families who are hurt." United have changed their away strip FOUR times in just FOUR seasons after signing a pledge with other Premiership clubs to keep home strips the same for two years.

And the club is even believed to be planning changes to its alternative white away strip, which will make it out of date and tempt fans to buy the new version.

The club's director of communications Paddy Harveson insisted last night: "We are not cashing in on the fans. The only reason we are changing the away kits after one season is because the makers changed from Umbro to Nike."

Little comfort for parents. But at least Man United have been put on the spot when it comes to prices. Following a News of the World scoop that United broke competition rules by fixing the cost of shirts along with other sports stores, the club has been investigated by the Office of Fair Trading—and faces being fined up to £50 million.

It won't save mums and dads from feeling ripped off this Christmas—but at least it's a consolation goal.

What the hell has it got to do with them if people want to buy a new replica shirt.

I say keep the new tops coming United it keeps my admission price down..

Well said..

The thing is, the strip has become a fashion accessory. People want to fork out 40quid for a flippin new strip every 2 months!

My thoughts exactly! Better be well done, cos I'll be 'aving that! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> <img src="graemlins/santa.gif" border="0" alt="[Santa]" />

It was obvious that this was going to happen after the Nike changeover! ALL clubs and manufacturers like to organise it so there is at least one kit change a year! If you looked carefully before buying you will have noticed a small tag insider your shirt! On this tag it tells the expiry date of the jersey! Summer 2003 for the White and Blue and Summer 2004 for the Red! So give up the moaning and if you cant afford it or dont wanna buy if for your kids dont bother!

In any case the three current strips are superb! Long may this good design continue and I look forward to the black kit!

The blue one is class. :( Soon as i find somewhere that does the CL lettering it will be complete <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />
