Who's accountable for our success/failures?

Any of you guys feel that as fans, we deserve to question the accountability of our beloved team, especially their failures. Or do we just let the Rolex Brigade or the Untouchables(if there is any) rule the club in whatever way they deem fit.

Sorry guys! I'm getting emotional about our loss. However I do seriously feel that we need some form of accountability. Could be from the manager, the coaches, the players, the physios, whatever it is. It should be a matter of shape out or ship out!

Last year, we failed big time yet no one took responsibility. How long is this going to happen? Until we failed to even quailify for Europe? We are not running a charity here. Yet last year, a lot of players receive lucrative new contracts. And some of their money are funded by us poor fans who spents more and more money each year to support our increasingly expensive team.

I think that it is way too early to even raise the question!

Meaning who exactly.

This thread is a joke. And not because of the subject, but because it will only get politician type responses.

It's been tried before, and no-one had the answers.

Roy Keane talks about the Rolex brigade, and straight away, all the fans jump on his bandwagon and agree with him - but when you try to pinpoint which players it is, no-one comes up with a high enough number to make the criticism valid.

And despite it being the opinion of Roy Keane, the majority of United supporters on here, won't hear a word said against some of the players anyway.

Imo though, I think every player out there today did his best. Sadly, sometimes, best isn't good enough. But no-one goes out there not to try.

I feel sometimes it would be better if players, managers or other staffs admit their mistakes once in a while. Then no one in the dressing room will start looking at each other with suspicions. There won't be any need for a scapegoat.

If the manager made a tactical mistake, maybe he should admit it once in a while instead of blaming it on the grass or the pre-season friendlies in Southeast Asia etc. The same goes for the players. This will prevent the press from having a field day that may disrupt team togetherness.

When Utd lost to Bolton, Capt Beckham claimed responsibility. In doing so, he prevented his teammates from being singled out unneccessarilty by the fans and the ABUs.

Success comes and goes. Look at Liverpool during the 80s ! United were the team during the 90s but after the Champions League win (which we were lucky to win in all honesty) there was a hint of decline. As the years rolled on there was an even greater hint of decline, until finally what we have today is a lower standard of football in the United camp and an incline in the standard from others such as Arsenal. What I don't understand is why people here are so surprised this has happened. That is the way football is !

The reason United were so prolific in their high standard of football during the mid 90s was because they had an amazing crop of youngsters that all came into the 1st team from the younger team. They had played together as teens and had what you can not buy - "Gel." They enforced this ability to play and gel together on their opposition whilst improving in standard, and being led by Eric Cantona help somewhat ;)

Today we have a variety of problems. To begin with there is possibly less of a natural hunger. You can only make yourself have a certain amount of hunger, but the natural hunger that derives from the romanticism of not having won anything, yet desiring as a young 20 year old to be up there with the greats, seems to bring about a much higher standard of football than making yourself be hungry.

Secondly the young crop of players that came through the United ranks are older now. Giggs has slowed down, has become much less consistant and his touch is questionable. He had some nice moments today aginst Leeds but equally some disasters. Beckham looked very limited out on the pitch; the reasoning for this may be attributed to a variety of issues. Scholes had a nightmare last season and arguably has picked up this season where he let off last season. Butt had a good world cup but would be the more average player out of the midfield. He battles well but without the magic of the rest of the midfield it seems his efforts are nulified to a certain extent.

Then when you look at the players brought in, and consider that you are never guaranteed they'll GEL with the team, a decline in some form is inevitable.

Perhaps when current injuries are healed and United diplay their astuteness or sagacity, by shrewdly purchasing a sought after player (must be an intelligent buy) things may turn around.

It's just the way football goes, and that's why we love it.

;)

Even if this thread is a joke i might as well answer.
The team!
That includes the manager, coaching staff and players. They take the credit when we win and have to take the flack when we lose. They choose to be at a club as big as United because the pay offs are higher but so are the lows.
If they can't stand up and take the blame when they don't perform then find another club.

lets look on the bright side la la ala la
we are only 6 pts. behind the arse with 32 games to go <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />  <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Stop watching. The first hour was the best bit

Wait till the CL games to start next week, I think that it will really pick us up! We seem not be able to get out of second gear when we are playing second rate teams (yes, Leeds are one of those), we need a few games against good opposition.
