Who looks good to be in the Starting Line-up? A Good Feeling.

after a few Pre-season games,.. the recent announcement from SAF and comments from players, fans and reporters. Who do we feel will survie in the starting line-up this year to bring home the silverware???
I like to see Giggs, Becks, Butty, Keano, Rio, Bartez, Ruud, Blanc, Ole, Gaz, Scholesy, O'Shea, Brown, and Veron Hold the trophies up @ OT. I personally think we can do it with all of these lads. Maybe the inclusion of one more striker aswell, but I believe everyone will be scared of the statements made and the ominous fact that no-one is safe. I truley hope they all work hard to make such speculation vanish.

Fergie's always been one to rotate the squad. To try and pick a squad of players which you think will feature the most (if that's what you're asking?) is near-on impossible really. Obviously, Keano, Becks, Mickey, Rio, Ruud and Barthez are likely to be there, but the rest, you can't say really. They'll all be holding those trophies up come May ;)

Personally, do you hink that Giggsy has dropped in form?, I know he gets a bit of flack now in then.. and he had a wonderful mid season last year.. that fizzeled out at the end. Should I be worried about losing Ryan Giggs???

Only if it was to be swapped for Duff - in which case that is not something to worry about. He better perform this season though, I can't help but think that some of Alex's criticism is aimed at him, and I noticed that Giggs lost the vice-captaincy in the Parma game.

Where are we in need of improvement you think?... Who needs to pick up the pace individually? And who do you think will?

giggsy's inconsistency has really bothered me for a long time now. He's slowed down a lot....When he runs at full speed he's great, but his general quickness around the pitch has decreased. Also What Gigg's has always been so good at is covering so much space on the left hand side, which sadly he doesn't do so much of, right now. Granted mid last season he was great for a period, his inconsistency may cost us matches, when someone could easily come into the squad from the bench, and play solid matches on a regular basis. Gigg's needs to start the season on the bench, reassess his game, and come back into it again with a bang.

Well all these calls for a quality left back my be valid. Some people think that we should rid of Mickey to fund for another striker. That is crazy! Mickey's only 25!! He's still young, people forget and his defensive work against Parma was great and for a long time in the first half he was our best player. He needs to cut down on the hoofed balls though! I like how our defence against Parma passed it round the strikers, rather than rushing it out! Excellent stuff!
Scholes really needs a good season this year! This could be make or break, else The PLC might want to cash in on him. Same can be said for Veron! Though I have confidence that Veron is about to have a "Cantona-esque" season! You read it here first!

Anyone who thinks Ryan Giggs is not one of the best Player in the world is stupid . He has always been one of our best players since he was 17. In my opinion he is the best player in the world. He's been troubled with a hamstring injuire throughout his carer and that is y he gets dips in form. When he is missing Man Utd suffer. In 98 he got injuired during at the end of the season when we lost so many games. Last season he got injuired during October and November which was when we lost so many games. He comes back in december and we start winning again. Giggs is our best player and we need him if we want to win trophies. :keano

Man utd should play 4-4-1-1 Barthez in goal, Rio and wes Brown in the center with gary neville and Silvest at right and left back. Keano and Veron in the middle with becks on the right and scholes on the left. with Giggsy playing behind Ruudi. they should play this formation against big teams, but against smaller clubs we should play 4-4-2 same player exept playing OLe instead of scholes and putting giggs on the left and Ole up front with Ruudi

I am glad that this " scare " is goign to make everyone preform much better. I just hope Giggs has a remarkable season this year. He is what Manchester United is all about,.. he's completely red though and through. I would be quite saddened if He didn't retire a Man Utd player. I truly believe he will have a great season his year. I Know he's one of the best players Man Utd has,... and he will prove it this season. He would do anything for the fans, players, SAF and always the team. A true player who sees beyond the bottom dollar $$$ and the fame. He's #3 behind Cantona ( god I miss the king ), And Georgey Best. And there is a reason behind that. He won't let us down!!!!

Scholes is shit on the left if you ask me. And I don't think Giggs is suited to a front role because his finishing is poor. Giggs would be better behind a front 2 and in front of a midfield, but we can't do that formation.

This formation may work but the only change I want to make is Butt instead of Veron at the centre of midfield. It is because with your formation I can see that Silverstre need to act as a wing back to go forward frequently, due to the fact that Scholes is not a winger, he can't carry the ball down the left (He will receive the ball, then just pass it away immediately). If Micky comes forward more then we need to balance the defence by applying one more DM.

Giggs is 28 and I'm not sure if he is still able to running down the flank match after match like what he's been doing for the past decade. First, opponents are getting familiar with his play and a lot of times you can see 2-3 defenders closing him out. Second, his hamstring problem is going to haunt him if he keeps running at full pace throughout matches.

I think it might be a good time for him to try switching to a drop-back striker role. Remember one of our best game last season away at Deport he was playing behind RVN (or Ole??) and he was brilliant (but we should have won by 4-0 if he could finish better). I think he has excellent touch and classy creativity and all he needs is to polish a little bit on his finish.

As far as the formation is concerned I think Mickey is able to provide support on the left when we attack (away Bayen game was a classic example where he surged forward totally unmarked and put in an excellent cross for RVN's goal). Also Giggs has the freedom to drift left or right whenever he finds space there.

That leaves us 5 world class center midfielders (even though Becks stays on the right most of the time but he likes to move inside too) and we can rotate them into the 4 MF positions depending on whether we need a more offensive (Scholes/Veron) or defensive (Butt) formation. We should be able to control the midfield against any opponents and also have cover against counter-attack.

Yes. I was watching some old matches the other night, and Giggsy was something else. Granted, he's not as young as he was, but on his day, he can still turn any defence in the world.

Injuries have been a problem throughout his career, but it would seem that in recent seasons, he hasn't been stalled by them as much. IMO, Giggs seems to play better when he plays fewer games.

We saw the 'real' Giggs in few games last season, but those that we did, it was great. He just never seemed to hit a run-of-form, instead, we got the best of Giggs in spells.

What I've seen in pre-season isn't enough to judge whether he'll be back to his best this season, but my guess is, like every-other player, he'll be fired up for it.

As for him leaving. It's possible, anything is thesedays in football. In all honesty though, I wouldn't expect it for a while. Giggs appears to be happy, as ever. He is the teams most experienced player, and a great example to all the kids in the ranks.

We love him, and he loves us. Giggsy is a Red :)

It is a matter of opinion as you say, so you can't really brand people as stupid for not sharing your opinion.

In my opinion. Giggs is not what he was, and yes, he's become inconsistant. That's not to say he doesn't have the ability, we all know on his day, Giggs us up there with the best in the World. I just don't think he is the best in the world at the moment. Hopefully, he shall prove me wrong this season :)

Some people do. Mentioning no names - but you know who you are. ;)
