Anyone seen this? Looks like a good concept

I think Jason Bateman and one or two others are taking each scene with no script or story, just improvising in a whodunnit script. Quite a good idea from Netflix.

Yeah thought it was decent. Plan on watching the rest of murderville.

Interesting concept. Just watched it.

Thought it was quite fun however was surprised some of the guests weren’t a bit more prepared! That said I’ve never done improv. There were a few times when Arnott was laughing though so they obviously got him.

I've done improv comedy classes and it's really hard. Some people flourish in those situations and they're like doubly funny considering how unexpected it all is.

I'll have to check this out sometime

What’s your experience of it? I’m intrigued!

Obviously this was kind of laid out as the other actors did have a story and script to guide them through, it’s just they didnt.

I know about the ‘and yes’ guidelines.

It was similar to this as far as I remember. We were given a murder mystery scenario and told to make up with a character, with most of the session being us coming up with fairly elaborate descriptions of where we were when at the time of the murder and why it couldn't possibly have been us. The whole situation basically ended up as a farce with the tricky thing being to let the comedy flow and sort of play off each other. You need good chemistry to do that and some were clearly better than others (I don't think I was very good as mentioned).

It was part of a workshop hosted by the comedy club I was part of during my masters degree. I mostly did scripted stuff myself (sketches, plays, etc) so I found the experience really enjoyable. I'd love to try it again.

No idea about "guidelines" though. It was probably mentioned but this was more of a quick introduction session I suppose.

Ahh well this is murder mystery so it seems a good concept. Would love to have a go at one. Those murder mystery nights also interest me in general where you go and have a weekend somewhere and play a role then have to guess who committed the crime…

I imagine it’s not as good as I imagine but still

Is this the US version of the Tom Davis show?

The series is a really good watch. Ironically, the one "non-actor" in Conan O'Brien was by far the best in improv out of the 6 who featured.

The show is an adaption of the British Murder in Successville. Weirdly I remember Tom Davis voicing his disapproval as though they’d totally ripped it off but can’t find anything about that now so maybe it was settled and brushed under the carpet.

Didn’t like the Americanised overly polished version of it personally but only watched a few and it does rely heavily on the guests.

Thanks for this! Had no idea

All on iplayer so watching them now. So much more amusing

Definitely recommend Murder in Successville @Vidyoyo

All the series are on BBC iPlayer and I’ve just been watching a few. The one with Richard Osman was great!

I’ve been doing them back to back but will pick them back up another day. Much better. Thank you! Do you recall any of your faves?
I remember the Jamie Laing one being pretty funny. Can't really remember any of the others as it was ages ago when I watched

Murder in Successville was great and also enjoy the US version.
