I would go for Becks as he is England captain, in reasonable form and likely to start every game while Roy is out. Giggs doesn't really inspire me at the moment and Rio is too new to the rest of the team (he captains the defence anyway).

I'd like Rio. But Keane is United's captain.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Rio? Why? Even in England Beckham is ahead of Rio as the captain. I also agree to make Becks as captain when Keano is out. He is Red thru and thru, his performance rise when given the captaincy, and he is the most natural successor to Keano's captain armband after he retired several years later.

Agreed, Giggs isn't an inspirational captain, he only gets it because he's been with us so long. Becks can lift a team, and captaincy lifts his performances too.

giggs doesn't seem to be a natural leader or motivator while out on the pitch. he doesn't seem to have the ability to lead on the squad when it needs it.

I agree - and note that it was Bekham who went public last night on MUTV stating that "all the lads" were behind Keane - nothing happens by accident in Fortress Ferguson

Right Gary should be an obvious choice when he's back but at this moment my choice would be Giggs if Keane was out for 3 months!

It's funny - the opposite happened back in 1982/3 - Ray Wilkins, the "Beckham" of our team was out for months with a fractured cheekbone and replaced by Robbo - Wilkins returned to the team but was ever again the central man (Robbo was clearly the better player) - a lengthy spell out will change the balance of power in this team - Keane will get the armband back but - espaecially if the team does well without him - will be more of a "first amongst equals"

Fully agreed. well respected player. Good organiser. United have missed him.
Becks in the meantime though.

Butty should be Captain of Pele's dream Team - nothing else - he's a good player for but not a captain in this squad of players that grew up with him

Being Captain could be the push Giggs needs to get himself together!
GIGGS IS THE ONLY CHOICE!
