Simple question. Mata used to always score highly in these, as did Greenwood. Young Martial, too.

Things are different now and I’m not sure how many we have you’d say are a sure thing squared with an onrushing keeper or presented with a chance any good finisher should be putting away.

Even if you believe a kid like Garnacho be included, be sure to list (Greenwood was already being considered before he even made his 1st team debut, if I recall.)

Your top three finishers in order?

Ronaldo
Martial
Bruno or Sancho

If Greenwood was around it'd him, Martial and Ronaldo comfortably.

Discounting one of the obvious answers here for obvious reasons...

Ronaldo
Martial
Sancho

From the players currently available for selection id say probably Bruno, Ronaldo and arguably Rashford. As much as I do criticise his all-round game, I do think he is a good finisher.

Sancho and Martial are also pretty good.

Such threads just show how Greenwood screwed up and, in the process, screwed us up.

Ignoring Greenwood, (i) Ronaldo, (ii) Bruno, (iii) probably Martial.

There is huge gap between (i) and (ii).

1. Ronaldo
2. Bruno
3. Sancho or Martial of 2 years ago

1. Ronaldo
2. Bruno
3. Probably Martial

He whom shall not be named shall not be named.

Ronaldo top, would have been GW 2nd.

Bruno is not a good finisher and I haven't seen evidence that Martial has that consistency, like Rashford he can score the worldies but a good finisher? I'd have Eriksen 2nd and probably Sancho 3rd

Finishing is hardly Rashfords problem. It's bothering his arse to get into the positions to finish in the first place that costs him.

Ronaldo, Martial and Rashford are comfortably the 3 best finishers available to us.

How are Bruno and Rashford mentioned here? They obviously have their strengths but finishing isn't one of them.

1. Ronaldo
2. Martial
3. Sancho (best of the rest).

Ronaldo
Martial
Recency bias suggests Sancho, but I’d imagine that it can be either one from Rashford, Sancho & Bruno based on their current form (Sancho>Rashford>Bruno as of today)

McTominay actually may be within a shout, he’s got a good shot even though he lacks variety.

The point of this thread is that we don't have a good nailed-on starter who can consistently finish.

Bruno's spontaneous samba routine when the ball arrives is the issue. If he'd strike the fecking thing I think he'd be a much better finisher.

But I find this to be a painful thing to think about. In order to beat the better teams we are going to need much better finishes and it's hard to see where that will come from. Ronaldo is our best option from that consistency perspective. This demonstrates how badly we need him out there doing his thing, I just hope he contributes enough defensively to where ten Hag will play him.

Sancho seems to be separating himself from Rash in the race for that left side role. But for Sancho to raise his consistency he will require better buildup around him. This season is going to be an adventure.

Martial? You lot must watch a different game to me.
