If the Spanish press are to believe then Ronaldo will be a Real player within 48 hours. Just looking at their lineup will send shivers down opposing teams

GK-Cassilas
CB-Hierro
CB-Helguera
LB-R.Carlos
RB-Salgado
MF-Figo
MF-Zidane
MF-Guti
MF-Solari
CF-Raul
CF-Ronaldo

It really would be a miracle if Real didn't win the Treble.

their midfield is weak and needs a ball winner in your lineup ... id never leave makelele out .. theyre in for marquez and thuram

casillas - salgado, marquez, hierro, carlos - figo, helguera, makelele - zidane - raul, ronaldo

therere several rumors flying around ... one´s 12m plus 2 players (probably morientes and solari) ... others are 40m plus mori or solari ..

inter need a left midfielder and solari would fit in well .. if inter got morientes from real they´d probably swap him for crespo and buy di vaio .. the ronaldinho move seems to be on hold

inter have had a very, very good offseason and theyve hardly spent anythign

Casillas
Salgado Hierro Helguera Carlos
Figo Makele Cambiasso/Solari
Zidane
Ronaldo Raul

I think Portillo is more likely to play than Guti, but they are both used at forward. The midfield El Diego posted is super offensive. With Salgado and especially Carlos at wingback, there is no need for such an offense-minded midfield.

Makele is very good at breaking up attacks and winning balls, but I think his dsitribution is a little weak. Pavon could also bump Helguera up to midfield, which would make it more defensive. Zidane and Solari are both very good, Figo could be again if his ankle ever heals. I've heard good things about Cambiasso. Savio and Macca are always available as well.

theyre looking to get rid of savio

portillos the reason they are willing to let morientes go

Yeah, yeah... Lineups are just fine, the issue is how that works on the pitch. We have had worse "lineups" who would just run over our current one.

That's what worries me. I couldn't care less who the opposition had if I could be confident about us being up for it. These days I'm not. Real look better on paper AND on the pitch. Arsenal don't look as good on paper but they are fecking scary to watch, such is the level they are performing at.

C'MON BOYS!!!!! MAKE ME EAT MY WORDS!

united jus need a kick up the backside and we can beat ANYONE!

p.s real can have that scumbag anyway!

...and I thought Morientes was 70% sure to become a Spurs player...

bayern munich can beat them, we come nowhere as near. if the current fisrt team gels then maybe next year.

Lineups dont mean jack shit....it hurts to bring it up but...
G-Cavallero
D-Samuel
D-Pochetino (Placente)
D-Ayala
M-Veron (Ortega)
M-Aimar (Zanetti)
M-Sorin (Simeone)
M-Almeyda (Gallardo)
M-Kily Gonzales (Gus Lopez)
S-Batistuta (Crespo)
S-Lopez (Cannigia)

...and the ones that didnt go...Saviola,Riquelme...so lineups again dont mean shit...Barca will beat Real this year.

There's no such a thing as a perfect team. Real Madrid looks fragile in midfield, and their defence and goal keeper ain't much better than ours.

GK-Cassilas ---- Barthez
CB-Hierro ------ Rio
CB-Helguera ---- O'Shea
LB-R.Carlos ---- Silvestre
RB-Salgado ----- G. Neville
MF-Figo -------- Beckham
MF-Zidane ------ Veron
MF-Guti -------- Keano
MF-Solari ------ Giggs
CF-Raul -------- Ole
CF-Ronaldo ----- Ruud

It's a very good team, don't get me wrong, but we would give them (and any team) a run for their money.

Out of the back 5 they would all win hands down if it weren't for Hierro being over the hill. 4-1.

I think the contest is tighter from midfield up actually and it's the defence that loses it. I can see their back four handling us, can't see ours doing the same. :(

I think Reals' defensive frailties are overstated, its their weakness, but they always look like they can score.

Agreed, they have a very good defensive unit. It just happens to be that, overall, it is the least good side of the team.

I'm not comparing any individual players - I've just merely given a very realistic Man Unitec XI, which incidentially is one of the best XI's in the world

Real need to buy a centre back more than a striker, furthermore people said they were set for domination after the zidane signing, yet deportivo won the cup and valencia won the league, my point is no one is unbeatable - although if they do sign him and thuram/marquez they will be coming awfully close!

i think we could face what Argentina faced during the WC. Uncertainty over the solide backbone of the team.

Although we have at least 6 world class midfielders to fight it out, everyone(apart frm Keane) seem unsure of their place. They have to work for it, they must strive hard and prove it. But one huge factor would mean changing the backbone of this 4-man midfield several times. Which could spell inconsistency and unceratinty like last season's defence.

If you play Veron/Keane this wk, then change to Scholes/Keane... then place Becks on bench, bring in Butt... etc, It could either

-spark off conflicts(undoubtedly)
-unawareness of who's playing alongside you?
-strikers unsure how the ball will be played to you? Cause there won't be consistent supply of crosses/through-pass/1-2s/
-in the end, unable to score goal.. unable to win those midfield battles

and i'm sure the media will hit out if Man Utd fails or performs badly.

So i think Fergie must make it very clear and use his rotational method to a very wise and witty standard, which i believe he can.. ;)

Jardel is not moving now and Christenval is a donkey from wht I've seen of him. They are weak in the middle, all small and (exept for L Enrique) not great tacklers. Still a strong team though.

I did actually and 3 out of those 4 weren't even there! I said the 11 looked unspectacular and you question me narrowing it to 4, which still don't look anything out of this world.

They are good players, which you would expect from Bayern but their lineup is far from claiming space at the London Planetarium.

PS: Granted, you left Kahn out and he is the dog's bollocks!

How many on this traveling circus would you have at OT? 1 or 2? 3 tops?

Puyol

Xavi
Riquelme
Kluivert
Saviola
Hasselbaink/Jardel
would all be good enough for our squad.

What's so funny about Ronaldo and Ruud? The pre-98 Ronaldo I can see but today?

As squad players maybe. But, even then, you certainly wouldn't be able to handle RVN, OGS, Forlan, Kluivert, Saviola, Hasselbaink and Jardel for two spots!

I would happily take Saviola and Riquelme into our squad, maybe Puyol. (before people start asking me what's wrong with the rest, I'm taking into account current squad, wages, needs... I don't mean to say Kluivert is no good, for instance).

Let me see.....
Puyol for a start is better than Gaz. Pains me to say, but he is!
Riquelme......Obviously
Saviola, will be the best striker in the world in a few years time!
Kluivert, come on! If Solskjaer is good enough for United, then so is Kluivert!
Overmars is good enough for United on the flanks.
Rochemback DEFINATELY is. He's so underrated it's ridiculous! Strong in midfield, good technique, ball winner and great distribution!

Arguable as I said. I would stick to Gaz simply because he already fits in and I have no qualms with him so I wouldn't want to stir shit.

Riquelme......Obviously

I wanted him badly. Oh well...

Saviola, will be the best striker in the world in a few years time!

Maybe not but certainly will be up there with the best.

Kluivert, come on! If Solskjaer is good enough for United, then so is Kluivert!

I agree he is good but once I had RVN, Saviola and OGS with Forlan as 4th I didn't see the need for him. Saviola or Kluivert, which would you take?

Overmars is good enough for United on the flanks.

Was he on the list? Well, yep, I would have him to challenge Giggs and get the best out of him.

Rochemback DEFINATELY is. He's so underrated it's ridiculous! Strong in midfield, good technique, ball winner and great distribution!

He is alright, I wouldn't play him ahead of any of our midfielders though.
