Jaoquin at 8m has to be the most unrealistic valuation since Leeds sold us Eric...

Don't agree, waft some cash under his nose, remind him who Manchester United are, and he'll come.

agree with weaste, plenty of players have said they want to join a club then change their mind - look at cisse. besides just because he wants to join real doesnt mean he will, they have to sort out their defence before they sign up young kids.

dont the spanish players have like 20m buy out clauses??

In theory yes, but that is mainly to protect their players from other Spanish clubs. And the player himself can also pay that if he wants to go elsewhere. This is how Figo went to Madrid, he actually bought his own contract, and then later charged Real Madrid for the cost of it.
They normally wouldn't use the buyout clause for a move to a foreign club, only a condition in the sale contract that it must be paid if the player is then sold back to another Spanish club within a certain time frame (ie 3 or 4 years). This is the case with Medietta, who if sold to Barça, Lazio would have to pay something in the region of 8 million quid more to Valencia.

Not always,Arteta at Glasgow Rangers is doing brilliant. Jose Mari didn't have a bad spell at AC Milan either.

Barthez 8 mil

Selling Barthez wouldn't be good buissnes IMO. First of all: Who's going to pay 8M?
And you can't sell him without replacing him. Even if you are trusting Ricardo as no 1, which I wouldn't, you'll still need a number two or three. That's why we bought Ricardo in the first place.
As for trusting Ricardo. Well, I haven't seen much of him but I do know that he's not very experienced. He hasn't played for a big club, at least not as no 1. He has no PL experience what so ever. Sure Barthez had no PL experience either but he on the other hand had won everything and was considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Ricardo is not a long term solution either.

I would, as I have seen him quite a bit.
As for second, we've got Carroll. As for third, buy one for 1 mil.

You could say exactly the same about the Great Dane when he came to us.

he brought Brondby to a couple of Uefa QFs
and was already the danish national keeper

He would be the Spanish national keeper RG, but he has two problems.
A) The best keeper in Europe at the moment called Canizares is Spanish.
B) The best young keeper in the world called Casillas is Spanish.
That should not detract from his ability RG, he's just increadibly unfortunate.
To buy one of the others would cost serious money.

Yes, but that was 1991. We've seen a few changes since, both regarding United and football it self.

I will disagree, not in goalkeeping terms we have not. And he was at his best less than five years ago.

Well, have you seen him play for a "big club"? It will always be easier for a goalkeeper to look good while playing for a mediocre club. When you are not as busy many find it difficult. Taibi would be a perfect example (now remember he has also played for Milan and I think for another of the better Italian clubs).

I never saw the Great Dane play for a "big club" before he came to us either.
Barthez neither for that matter. What has the size of the club got to do with anything? Maybe we just happened to be the first "big club" to go for them?

Oh, but we was. Les Sealey, good as he was wasn't world class. Schmeichel then made an immediate impact and was soon a world class goalkeeper. Then we took a gamble with Bosnich (not world class) and it didn't pay off.

I'm not saying he0s not good, actually I don't knowit, I've never seen him.
But comparing him with Schmeickel when he joined us, looks incorrect to me,for a matter of much different experiences.

I never compared him to the Great Dane RG (nobody compares on that level), I just compared his situation. How many people had heard of the name Schmeichel before we signed him? Not many I bet.

Sorry, I meant a club that will mostly be attacking - thus the goalkeeper not being very busy for most of the time.

Because Schmeichel always was world class, no matter where he played he was world class, that is why SAF signed him, because he could see it, and thankfully he saw it before another "big club" saw it.
The same goes for Solskjaer.

Diop would be a great addition.
With a striker like RVN, for me a champion, I wouldn't go for a similar type of player, like Cisse is.
Probably Schevcenko would be a very good partner.

I'd go for Diego Tristan myself RG.
