We have Mainoo and Garnacho from our youth prospects. Surely there has to be CBs in our youth team, they can’t be worse than Maguire and Lindelof.
That’s really sad. Not long ago we had McNair, Tuanzebe breaking through. I’m not saying they were good but it did feel good when they put in decent performances. It pains to see players who have no future with us put on shitshows. By luck we could find a decent CB like we brought through Rashford.None are even close to ready. Will Fish comes to mind but even he’s on loan and miles below the required level.
Unfortunately, they can be.We have Mainoo and Garnacho from our youth prospects. Surely there has to be CBs in our youth team, they can’t be worse than Maguire and Lindelof.

Yeah I understand.Unfortunately, they can be.
If Mainoo and Garnacho become solid first team players for us, it's already a brilliant youth class. You can't expect any youth academy in the world to be churning out elite level players all over the pitch every few years.
That’s surprising. Keane was from our academy right? He is struggling at Everton as well.I don’t think we’ve had a good homegrown CB come through the youth since Wes Brown tbh. Maybe Pique if you count him.

Isn’t the French prospect kambwala or something supposed to be promising?
Evans surely?I don’t think we’ve had a good homegrown CB come through the youth since Wes Brown tbh. Maybe Pique if you count him.
With Varane being injury prone and needing his game time managed we actually need Somebody who can challenge him immediately and be his replacement longterm .Bit odd that we have nobody. We need a third CB of some quality not named Harry or Victor.
I think people do have to be patient. Sadly we still have a long way to go before we can challenge and we need numerous major additions that aren’t going to happen altogether. We just have to decide which ones are of greater importance and make sure we get those right. This team has to be moulded personnel wise and trained to play a certain way. And there are many who are well beyond that. Of course the more we can fix the better. With Varane being injury prone and needing his game time managed we actually need Somebody who can challenge him immediately and be his replacement longterm .
The list of what we need in Summer just keep on growing at least 5 first team quality players are needed to compete next season.
I was actually one of those who thought we could challenge next season but now I have came to realisation we need to be patient and may have to take step back to move forward .I think people do have to be patient. Having a strong DoF would help but we don’t have that so our squad building is usually error prone or sluggish. Ideally the executive side of the club would be providing some solutions in terms of smart deals instead of it just being manager recommendations. He’s not a scout he’s just speaking from his experience even if it has often come off well.
Injuries and just plain bad form have greatly reduced that sense of promise over the last few yearsWhat about Teden Mengi? I thought he was promising.
