Any opinions on this band?
I don’t want to like them. They were formally known as Fear of Flying, who were apparently a chirpy indie band. It feels a little fake when a band go from singing cheerful, indie pop tunes, then change their name and start writing songs about death and despair. It feels a little like they watched Control (the Ian Curtis bio-pic) and decided to dress in black write these dark tunes.
Thing is though – the album is great. There are some great tunes on it – “Death” & “To Loose My Life” really stand out.
Sure, there are strong Joy Division, Talking Heads and even Duran Duran influences, but is that such a bad thing?
