Which youngsters should be in the squad next season?
This season we had:

GOALKEEPERS
33 Paul Rachubka - wanted by several clubs

DEFENDERS
30 John O'Shea

MIDFIELD
15 Luke Chadwick
28 Michael Stewart
31 Darren Fletcher
32 Bojan Djordjic
34 Lee Roche

FORWARDS
36 Jimmy Davis
37 Danny Webber - wanted by watford
40 Daniel Nardiello

Who of the above should be sold?

Who below should be promoted?

Michael Clegg has off to Oldham
Marek Szmid has been released 2 seasons ago I believe
Rose and Wood were off as well I think ... .

And ...
Lee Sims, Lee Roche are both defenders not midfielder


A good thread though ... but I believe probably not many ppl can comments on this ... Have had other postings on youth so far but normally don go anyway other than all agreed that Richardson, Mads and Fletcher should be able to make it very soon ... that's abt it ..
 
Djordjic and Nardiello. Especially the former, a first team stint is long overdue.

I thought similarly when I took off the list at red11 and m-u-f-c.co.uk, but wasn't sure enough so put em on anyway! Lee Sims was down as a midfielder - but maybe he is versatile or has moved positions?

When do you think each player is ready for first team full, first team sub, worthington cup, or move up to reserves?

sell the whole fecking lot of them and bring in foreigners. I think our reserve team next year should be:

Buffon
Zanetti Lucio Hofland Carlos

Hargreaves Gatusso Veron Nedved

Del Piero Vierri


that way we'd be sure to win the reserve league every year and maybe the Worthington cup too if we get a bit of luck in the draw. ;)
 
How many youngsters have established themselves in the first team squad since 1992. Apart from Phil Neville and Wes, I can't think of any. Luke perhaps but not really. Many have been shown the door and it has to be said that Fergie has been vindicated as none of them seems to have "made it" elsewhere.

Hopefully John O'Shea will establish himself in the first team because he looks real class. I don't know about Michael Stewart and we have yet to see Fletcher, Richardson and Timm. Perhaps if Webber had been given a chance instead of the totally misfiring Forlan he might have done something.

Fergie can never be accused of not giving youth a chance, but two making the grade in ten years is not a great return for the much vaunted youth policy. Hopefully some of the current bunch will come through but don't bet on it. I expect the majority will leave sooner or later.
 
It's not hard to understand youngsters who decide against coming to us. How do we change that?

Higher class reserve team and more consistent rotation policy, so that promising players really get a chance. Not just a place on the bench on the last day of the season.
 
Djordjic, Stewart, Chadders, Davis should be in the first team..

The ones who don't make an impact should be sold next summer IMO..

Steele, Fletcher, Richardson, Timm, Sims, Fox should all play regular reserve team football next year and perhaps make an appearance in the Worthless Cup..

Tierney, Webber, Roche, Rachubka, Nardiello, Muirehead, Taylor, Mooniaruck should be sold for scrapps as they're very unlikely to make it. I reckon we can make good money on Tierney and Webber and perhaps Taylor and Nardiello as well cause they are all PL quality players potentially.

The rest will probably be released sooner or later or sold for nominal fees.

Naturally, players who played for the U-16s will play for the U-17s/U-19s next season etc
 
Can any of our youngsters be good replacements for Irwin and and Gary 's back up?

I agree with virtually all that Roy.

However, I would personally sell Djordic and Chadwick as I believe they will not make the first team reguarly and we should sell them. I personally think that Davis is better than Chadwick and Richardson will be better than Djordic. By selling them it will create more chances for those two, plus Fletcher in the reserves and first team.

Other than those mentioned Mads Timm looks the part. I've been impressed with him in the games I've seen. Difficult to know if an U17-19 will make the grade. Mads needs to step up to the reserves imo. Darren Fletcher will also make it, as long as he stays fit. Can't see any strikers or a keeper making the grade, these are positions that most clubs usually purchase for.
